There is a blatant lie going on with raid sets (and gear art as a whole in the game right now).
Back when they announced that Class Specific Sets were getting removed the excuse was that there were already enough class sets and the art team couldnt come up with new stuff related to each class yadda yadda… BUT the removal of said sets would open up space for the art team to explore the theme of the raid alone to develop the new sets and that would give us more variety of sets and all.
Fast forward 2 tiers in the expansion and the datamined third one and all we got is one lackluster set for each armor type, a bunch of meh recolors of said sets and the same work for dungeon gear. Granted we do have a dungeon set from Zandalari dgs and one For Kultiran dgs, but where the hell is all the variety that was promissed?
After the announce i thought “cool the art team usually does a good work on sets, we should get some great stuff coming our way” now I’m just thinkin “wtf did they leave all the work to one guy?”
You guys used to make 12 sets per tier of raid…WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED THERE?! Im not even asking for you to go back developing 12 sets per raid, but just give use more variety as promissed and more interesting and cool looking stuff. Right now BOD is the only raid with what came closer to cool and different stuff IMO, Uldir and the datamined sets for the Azshara raid look like questing gear, the mythic ones being slightly better.

After playing for years and seeing all the AMAZING sets it is quite odd that they pushed these out the way they are.
To this day I still want t3 warlock gear because it is so amazing, a armor set made more than 10 years ago I still want in 2019. That’s how WELL they did armor.
I really just don’t understand their approach to it lol ( lets make something less cool, They’ll love it! )

I love what we’ve seen of the Mechagon gear. The torches and ray guns are cool as heck.

Cant disagree, there is some cool stuff coming, but its so little compared with what they used to do. Thats my point.
Even if its just cosmetic crap we can run around and collect inside dungeons or something. Do an achievement, idk… something.
As someone who doesn’t do much other than an LFR every now and again… most of the sets looked drab.
Not very eye popping, not screaming cool…just plain ole drab.
there was one cloth set i liked but i think it is locked behind the higher raid content which i wont do until 2 or 3 xpacs down the road lol!
However everyone sees and likes things differently so maybe there are tons of people out there who really love those sets!

I am sure there is. I’m speaking for myself. The whole point of a forum is discussion.
My problem is not really with what we got, but what didnt get or lost.

The raid sets are extremely disappointing. We went from every class having a unique flavor in Legion to pure generic blandness in BFA. It’s sad.

To me BfA is more about race and faction identity. That’s why we get the faction based Warfront and PvP designs and Heritage Armor.

More cost cutting. Notice a theme lately? Other than new raids there is so much recycled content now and a lot of low effort new content.

Something happened to the innovation. Blizzard has gotten lazy.

I agree. Everytime a new raid set has been revealed I think back to what they said to justify removing class sets. Like, really, THIS?
That being said, the Boda armor sets looked neat, and the upcoming Mechagon weapons (hopefully armor to be added?) are a gnomes dream.

I can see that. I don’t like it as much as class identity though.

Yep, mechagon has potential to be really fantastic. I’m hoping they get some cool stuff added. The lack of sets so far tho on the datamine is making me fearfull that we will have the pirate theme there too.
Cant produce the same quality product when they’re down to 1.7m subs.
I agree. The sets are fairly boring to look at. Ill keep my legion sets on until the next expansion and beyond at this rate.
