I made a post the other day about dps pulling and keeping people who want to learn to tank from trying it out. Jumped back on later that week and had a blast.
I would say tanking is fun, but only when you out gear the content. I have not once felt in danger running LFD the last two weeks. I dont know that I would like it while leveling or while actually gearing with other players though.
Doing over 1 millions DPS overall as a prot pally is pretty fun.
But there is really nothing for me in heroics or beyond 5/5 timewalking dungeons. Mythic+ is super toxic. I do seat and queen’s fall raidfinder for the crests to be part of what I buy satchels with but there is nothing for me there either.
I think there are lots of people, myself included, who like the role of tanking and find it fun.
There has always been a mixture of fun and stress in balancing out pacing in content.
right now, in my opinion, the balance in m+ is way off.
by that, I mean that there are so many moments in the current dungeon pool that if I make one mistake, i die, we wipe, the key is most likely bricked.
I can see that sort of consequence in personal challenge content like zekvir, especially ??. however, that makes no sense in the more or less routine group content of m+.
the difference between success and failure should not rest upon one person in a group playing perfectly for 20-30 minutes, especially when playing with complete strangers and without comms.
tanks need to be a bit stronger; healers need to be a bit stronger; the content (mostly timers) need to be a bit more forgiving.
i don’t need to be a “god” to enjoy tanking; i just need to know that I won’t be the cause of a bricked key and a group failure if I make one mistake in a half hour.
omg so glad you’re not calling the shots at Blizz Most of us love big pulls. Big pulls are fun. We love seeing the numbers on our screen go vroom vroom. We love big pulls and we cannot lie
I main tank since Wtlk and yea its not fun anymore. I keep playing it because i hate dpsing and healing meh
Thats the point of an dps. I do like pulling big but 90% of people can’t do what ask of them. Even blizz see this and thats why every pack has something to do and thats why you dont see MDI pulls in normal keys 10+ with pugs.
The tank role is not what it meant to be. If your thing is big numbers than just play an dps lol.
I could go and be part of the solution and queue up in LFG, but why would I ? I’d ratjer enjoy thinking that people like that other guy get to sit in queue for hours. I am still pissed at the tank nerfs (and the lack of changes since TWW, on top of Guardian Druid not having received a single change for now 519 days!)
They need to announce tank changes for 11.1 and soon, or we’re heading straight into the sewers.
They need more class/spec development. It seems like there are nothing equivalent to an advocate/product owner making stories for the dev team, and every developer fancies themselves the next Wozniak so of course it’s already perfect, no need to check feedback or change anything.
It just feels like they’ve designed the last few seasons to be fun for 5 specs and to hell with everyone else. I assume more that it’s on purpose than out of incompetence or complacency.
At the end of the day, wow has a ton of moving parts, and the best way to play the game is to completely abandon your character every season and reroll one of the meta specs, because there’s little chance the pecking order will change. They’ve said as much in interviews.
I once joined a pug raid, I started to explain a little bit here and there and the guy who started the raid made me leader, I left instantly.
I don’t care if I am tanking, healing or DPS, the leader role comes down to who starts the key, and if they can’t lead, they can stop running their own keys and join the queue of infinite pugs.
Its feel like they an very small class team. The interviews and videos of people having insight saying it. It must be true. Its seems the classes are getting less of true development as balancing in whole game wide. Brewmaster for an example. It havent gotten any big changes in to fix the problems since beta.
Classes are one of the biggest part of wow and they are dropping the ball. I understand 39 specs are insane. Everything is too complex to be honest also. Hero talents didn’t help either
I do a lot of satchels in level 70 dungeons. Alliance/horde, tank/heals. Shortage of tanks and healers makes me a good wow living. I mentioned in trade chat that I do this and somebody said, “Thank you for your service.”
There is a way to buff tanks and make them feel powerful without breaking the game, but Blizzard can’t figure it out, they have too many plates spinning and not enough liberty to act on ideas.
