With the latest round of class tuning announced, it’s incredibly disappointing — but not surprising — to see zero changes for Feral Druid once again.
Despite Feral’s underperformance in both Mythic+ and raid content, Blizzard has chosen to buff specs that are already sitting comfortably in the meta. Meanwhile, Feral continues to be overshadowed — particularly by Balance Druid, which not only deals competitive damage but brings immense utility to M+ groups (looking at you, Solar Beam).
Feral is already a niche pick for high-end keys and is constantly overshadowed by Balance druid. How does it make any sense that Balance continues to be one of the top specs in M+ for DPS and utility, and is obtaining a flat 3% spell damage increase?
In raid, Feral continues to sit in the lower-middle of the pack. While it’s not the worst performer, it also doesn’t bring anything that justifies a spot over stronger specs. Specs like Affliction Warlock, Windwalker Monk, and even Enhancement Shaman received significant buffs this round — despite having stronger or more consistent representations than Feral. Alike to M+, Feral is also competing against Balance Druid in this regards, although Balance Druid is often favoured due to it’s role as a ranged DPS, while bringing all of the same Druid utility as Feral (Mark of the Wild, Vortex, etc.)
Blizzard’s note says:
“Most of these changes are focused on improving specs that are underperforming in Season 2…”
Yet somehow, Feral didn’t make the cut. Are we not underperforming enough? Do we need to fall off the chart completely before we get attention?
Blizzard — Feral mains deserve better. Stop treating us like a hidden spec.
Feral druid being likely bottom tier last 4 bosses in Mythic with no buffs is criminal. Blizz just needs to admit they don’t care about balancing and choose fotm specs they want to play every tier. At least give us a new cat form if you’re going to disrespect us like this. I pay good money to them so i can meow and this is how we’re repaid. Absolutely despicable.
Check again broski we are down bad right now. plus warcraft logs exclude stix which is ferals worse fight so we are worse than what the statistics say on warcraft logs
I should probably update. With the latest changes, Feral Druid has dropped from mid-pack to one of the worst-performing specs in raid. In many scenarios, Balance is now simming higher for single-target damage, which is an insane outcome given how dominant they already are in AOE, all while enjoying the inherent advantages of being a ranged spec.
We’re in dire-need of a buff. As of right now, there is no reason to take a Feral to raid over a Balance.
Gonna put in my two Cents here. Been playing Feral in the top 15 percentile range since wrath (Taking a break in Legion)
Even looking at experience or the actual numbers; feral are NOT doing well. Our single target is botched, cleave has had a huge improvement, but its random proc which makes us 50% viable, making us a middle Tier pick for Mythic plus, i mostly raid, I used to pride myself on ST boss fights… we’re NOT doing good. And yes i have also noticed the lack of work done on Feral Druids in particular.
I can wholeheartedly say that Feral is indeed being treated like a hidden spec. Thats how i feel, and thats how quite a lot of us are feeling by the looks of it. I’m honestly getting tired of feeling shafted maining as a feral druid.
Yeah how feral is designed our aoe in raid will never improve we need lots of targets that will live long enough for our bleeds or theres no point doing aoe. Spot on the single target side, feral usually only gets brought to do one thing and that is single target. This tier blizzard has buffed all the classes around us and ignored us completely so we went from doing decent single target damage comparatively to not good, and since that’s the one role ferals are brought for its detrimental to the spec, We need two things, large buffs to our single target or a way for us to do burst aoe damage otherwise the spec can’t compete and there would be zero reason to bring a feral and its definitely leaning that way at the moment because why would you bring a feral when you can bring a balance druid who does more single target and more aoe.
It’s not. Thats where we shine and why we’re doing alright in raids.
Really isn’t any better place to be. Middle of the pack is about as safe as you can get.
What’s with this mentality that if you’re not number 1, you’re not doing well??
Because it’s maintaining a spot in the upper portion of middle of the pack. They’re in a position where they’re not needing worked on. Not buffed, not nerfed.
You’re a funnel spec. You’re not supposed to focus on AoE. The AoE we do do, is to proc the 4 set so we can funnel free bites and buffed DoTs into prio targets. That comment of “lean into your strengths” wasn’t something i just pulled off of chatgtp
The spec people use in raid, I think so. Its kind of odd seeing a spec in a raid so under represented that you can see boosts in the warcraft logs candlestick chart. This might have worked itself out if they could buy their BIS gear with cartel chips, but they wanted to change them to sell boosts.
For M+ you can do large stacked pulls, so I think they are fine. You will not see a lot of them in a caster meta, but they are timing 18 keys at a higher rate than all locks and rogues.
You do not raid, you have no idea how these fights work, acting like sitting middle of the pack on purely boss damage is good on a spec that is not able to do aoe damage and funnels the boss? When other specs do everything better? Like get a grip.
I do, which is why i’m able to comment on being able to use to the adds to funnel on to the boss.
It’s a safe spot.
Then change specs if you’re so worried about it. There’s always going to be a first and a last when you’ve got multiple specs in a game. That list is ever changing. If your mindset is “if you’re not #1 you’re last”, get around to fotm rerolling.
Feral is in a solid spot. And it does AoE pretty well. It just doesn’t do burst AoE, which it never has (perhaps barring BrS hayday in Legion)
No its annoying when you put a lot of effort into doing damage and you come out bottom to mid in a raid despite getting a 99 parse purely because the spec is under tuned. I play feral because its the spec i enjoy and am good it, not doing damage purely based on being bad tuning wise is not fun.
