Lacerate and Mangle

Can anyone give a reason as to why they choose to limit Bear Druid Tanks ability to get both Mangle and Lacerate?

Would it not be more fitting to swap the Lacerate rune with the Skull Bash rune so that it allows bear tanks to get both Mangle and Lacerate. And since Skull Bash shares the cooldown of feral charge most Bear tanks will not have a strong leg rune to choose from as usually you get feral charge anyways.

Something should be moved around to leg to make for better choices for bear. They have awkward choices to make when it comes to the mentioned lacerate and mangle as well as windfury and survivability.

I was gutted when they changed it to be the same CD for both. Having two charges would have been actually sick for Bear feral. I’m still gonna “maybe” pick it but it feels like a “ehhhh guess I’ll take it” choice now instead of a “damn this gonna be sick”! A two second spell cast prevention is also so incredibly quick the best very noticeable benefit it has over feral charge is no 8yrd min range requirement which doesn’t really make it feel cool enough. And yeah it really is basically bear’s only choice unfortunately. Hopefully that changes down the line. Cat is definitely never gonna pick it up for pve with savage roar being in the same slot.

I really hope they consider moving Lacerate with skullbash because honestly I will probably never take it as bear with the shared CD.

Ya know maybe I’d pick up lifebloom to try and use pre pull maybe.

Maybe they thought 2 interrupts would be overpowered. But man this is SoD, I thought we were supposed to be overpowered. Some of these new spells casters got are gonna be slapping hard just from base damage alone.

I felt the same when I first saw Skull Bash and it made no mention of sharing the cooldown with Feral Charge, and I was like well it should be fun zooming abouts.

I also am like you and seeing maybe just using life bloom, but its not as exciting as having 2 new buttons to add to the bear tanks arsenal.

Yeah they kind of bricked feral tank Leg rune choice by linking them unfortunately. I mean I guess it’s like a little more usable than feral charge when you need to kick a spell as a bear. But it’s a really boring choice now.

Should be a non-issue on Alliance. You will want a Feral in each melee group for the Wild Strikes buff. The Druids who aren’t tanking maintain Mangle. Tank chooses Lacerate.

Could be an issue on Horde, if Shamans end up being the preferred Windfury provider, meaning only one token Feral per raid. But I think it’s unlikely that Blizzard will leave Horde Druids hanging.

I agree it would make the bear tool kit a lot more fun and interesting to have both lacerate and mangle in bear form. With other new tanking classes like warlocks and shaman, it would be good to give bear a more versatile toolkit.

I would also like to say in regards to the Lacerate rune itself, I am sceptical about the weapon damage it does. I’ve trialed using multiple weapons and can’t see any difference on average between different damage weapons, and only an average of 10 damage difference from no weapon equipped at all.

Does anyone know exactly how the weapon percentage damage is applied and if the damage is affected by usual AP, crit, stats etc? It just seems weak even when all 5 stacks are applied.
Has anybody else played around with this as well?
