Ky'veza, the 'new' Nemesis delve boss, isn't voiced?

It’s really weird to me that Ky’veza has no voiced lines in her appearance in S3’s nemesis delve, even though she was fully voiced in Nerub’ar Palace.

Is that SAG-AFTRA strike still going on that included a lot of voice actors? I remember that was the likely reason that Renzik wasn’t voiced for all of the Undermine campaign.

I started turning off the voice over in repeated dialogues to preserve what little sanity I have left. I have Faerin on perma mute, Brann too. I am okay with this boss being silent, I had to mute the Underpin as well.

Yeah I mean, that’s great, but it’s poor creative and narrative design to have one character with voiced lines and another without voiced lines communicating in the same conversation, for what should be obvious reasons.

Those who want silent voices can turn off Dialog sound to achieve that, as you referenced.

It is odd for a boss to not have callouts when certain abilities trigger.

Now if only Blizzard would delete Brann’s voice as well lol

I’m more concerned that she two-shot me on a T11, but that’s a clear skill issue on my part, and I should not have summoned her at 677 lol

Geyarah also wasn’t voiced for the small Arathi Highlands storyline, which felt a lot like how Renzik was handled. It’s so jarring when you can’t fully listen to a story but instead have to read the chat because a character isn’t voiced.

If Ky’veza now isn’t voiced, it’s probably also related to the strike, but I think that’s going to have some ramifications with her being a boss rather than just a questgiver. Personally I kinda rely on voice lines as audio cues during combat, so without those I’m probably going to struggle a bit more than I did against Underpin and even Zekvir who were both fully voiced. Then there’s my personal opinion that I really liked the voice work she got in 11.0 and am kinda sad she for whatever reason didn’t return here.

Apparently it ended exactly a month ago. But there will presumably be some delayed reactions as the hole it created moves along the long development pipeline?

They seem to have successfully voiced a number of things in the current patch but I’m fuzzy whether that would have all been done a couple of years ago as a block of work covering the whole expansion or if they do recording sessions for each patch as the go?

Presumably, while the strike’s been ongoing, the voice work that’s been done was either from actors outside of SAG-AFTRA or was able to be recorded without violating the strike.

Good information to have. Maybe they’ll have some updates to come in 11.2.5.

There’s addons that let you mute specific game sounds. I muted almost everything he says in delves.

Yes agreed. I struggle without some sort of vocal queue, especially with the phase where damage can be done flows into the ‘must face them’ assassins and there’s no sound to tell my brain to pay attention. After a couple rounds I start zoning out too much and get nailed. Managed to do it on ? but it’s gonna be hella spicy on ??

That’s unfortunate, feels weird to have her invade and there’s no voice lol.

Absolutely insane to ship a product with no voiced lines, where people rely on vocal and audio clues.

The strike is over now, but the ramifications will be felt for a good while.

I do recommend looking up the situation. It is an absolutely wild situation with an absolutely wild union. There’s a few videos on it, as well.

Anyway, yeah, it sucks. It started with Renzik and it will probably happen to characters in Midnight, too.

I am kinda hoping Blizzard retroactively fixes it! Renzik deserves to be voiced.
