Ky'veza one-shotting whole parties when she drops into other delves

Is it just me, or is Ky’veza - especially her Dark Massacre ability - a completely whack, out-of-place mechanic, when she appears in other delves?

I usually do delves with a friend. We’re not that bad. We clear tier 11 delves first week. We clear heroic raids and get over 3k in M+ most seasons.

Last week, Ky’veza drops in on us in a tier 9 or so. Everything seems to be going fine. We get an extra elite because of Brann’s whack positioning, but we can manage. Then all of a sudden, we both die - one-shot from 100% to 0 - from Dark Massacre.

???

After that, I went and killed Ky’veza twice, in her own delve, just to learn this mechanic. My friend also gave it a few tries to see it.

This week, we get Ky’veza in a Tier 8 delve again. She does Dark Massacre. I look all around, where are the clones? Can’t see them. Wham, I’m dead. My friend continues for a bit, Dark Massacre comes up, wham dead.

???

How is this OK, for a drop-in to a random delve? A drop-in that you get once per week, unless you spend Undercoins on the item? No opportunity to learn? No ability to retry?

And to do this ability - against backgrounds of random colors? With random packs that might also be there? With a number of other people, so it’s not even clear whom the clones are charging?

What on Earth are the developers thinking?

If you have very difficult one-shot twitch mechanics, you need immediate repeatability. If you don’t have immediate repeatability, you can’t have these mechanics.

???

It sounds like they went too far in one direction with season 1’s nemesis, then made season 2’s arguably too easy. Now the pendulum swung back the other way with a vengeance. So basically, Blizzard doing Blizzard things.

Underpin wasn’t hard when he dropped into delves, but I found his ?? difficulty harder than Zekvir. Underpin ?? took me about 3 hours to kill.

Ky’veza on ??, though, seems like something I’m not even sure I want to attempt. The twitch mechanics are insane. It seems to be a whole other game, something like what my kid would play. It’s not WoW, it’s… Geometry Dash, or something.

I’m having a tough time seeing where to look as well. I actually like the mechanics but they need to be turned or made more obvious

Oh yeah, I was speaking strictly from a normal delve perspective.

It can’t reasonably be a one-shot if it’s a mechanic to which you only have a couple seconds to react, can’t retry it, and only see it once a week.

Seeing it in Ky’veza’s own delve doesn’t even count, since apparently even if you kill it there, the drop-in delve mechanic looks different and you’ve learned nothing.

I hope they adress this, im having the EXACT issue…100 to 0. because I couldnt see 1 clone somewhere in the aether somewhere. Ridiculous. The clones NEED a large red arrow to show you which one is coming at you first and from where.

Yup. Got one shot in the Tier 11 delve I was doing earlier. Didn’t even see what killed me. Can’t imagine trying to kill the actual boss…

Actual boss has a lot more clones, like 3-4 instead of 2. Not fun.

I find this really interesting, because the split on this opinion does seem to be almost 50/50 of who found which harder, and my friend and I have spent way too much time puzzling over why one seems way easier to one group, and the opposite was true to the other. Does seem to be one of those all-in decisions too. It’s kind of WoW delve boss version of “What color is the dress?”

Our best guess (this may or may not represent objective truth, obviously) is that Zek’vir relied more on class mechanics and deeper knowledge of abilities. While Underpin requires more environmental awareness and ability to position.

So people who are stronger with how their class works, or can think up which ability would be most helpful in a pinch = Zekvir is easier.

People who can keep track of multiple objects and have an intuitive understanding of their surroundings = Underpin was easier.

Anyway, random rant tid-bit, sorry. I personally thought Underpin in delves was a nightmare, though, while I was excited every time Zek’vir popped up. Friend was total opposite. lol

Uh oh, I’ve not fought her yet. I can already tell I’m going to hate this. lol

So how does the ability work? She spawns a couple clones in a random place who charge in a line, and you have to move out of their way?

Random question either way: Are the clones spectral? I ask because sometimes when things spawn with that mechanic (various boss fights including the one Sanctum, and the last boss in that one Legion dungeon) my PC doesn’t load them in time. Like they literally are invisible 90% of the time, and I just die to an invisible force.

I don’t know if it’s a graphics bug or a bug on Blizzard’s end or what, but I’m just wondering if people are simply having trouble spotting them, or if some users are literally unable to see them due to this.

I personally dislike Dark Massacre because more often than not the clone spawns in visual clutter and mercs me while I’m trying to find it

I only had her drop in one delve so far. She killed me and left before I even knew what was happening. I doubt I have much chance with her this season. I was carried for her heroic raid kill as I couldn’t see her mechanics (colorblind issue) or react in time to some of her abilities. Now she is harder and I can’t have friends to help. :sob:

Oh geez, just watched a video of this. Wow, ok.

So, they’re not spectral, but they are very hard to see. Are there no audio cues at all for them? (The video had a guy talking over it / no game sound).

Man, I want to believe those visual cues are so bad that they’ll be improved upon, but … ugh. We can only hope. I mean, heck, even the Underpin bombs (which I personally had trouble seeing) had the little ticking sound to help.

Kind of unsure why they didn’t just make the line go all the way from the mob to the player, or give an arrow warning of which way they’re coming from. If the mechanical skill test is being able to react and deal with it amidst all the other chaos, then at least provide the needed information, ya know?

Unless “Where’s Waldo?” is also part of the skill test, geez.

My opinion was formed the first time Zek’vir invaded me and brutally murdered my character, mind, body and soul. Then when Underpin invaded me for the first time, I sent him packing with minimal effort… Haven’t seen Ky’vesa yet but I don’t like the sound of her already.

 Fair enough. lol

Man, Underpin even in his delve was so horrible, that I was eventually like, "Ok, I am never going to find those bombs and be able to visually process fast enough to line them up properly to kick them in time. So, new strat: I’ll wait 'till I can do more DPS and focus on Speed enchants so I can just dodge all-the-things and burst him down before I slip up.

It worked … barely.

Yeah, Underpin was…a bit of a mess, at least at first for me. When I learned that I could kick his bombs away, it made things much easier. I would just clear a decent sized room or platform and summon him to give me plenty of room to move. He did have a tendency of showing up unannounced in some of the worst possible locations though.

It took me way too long to realize this. XD

But yeah, definitely became easier after that. I still would always miss one and get a surprise circle of death where I didn’t expect it, though. lol

One thing I learned the hard way, and also indirectly, was that his flamethrower could not be LoSed. I watched a friend try to dodge it and it went right through the pillar, frying them up extra crispy. This was a big pillar, too. Logically, it should have been LoSable.

Correct. They can be behind you, in front of you, anywhere in 360 radius. And you have to turn VERY fast or get 1 shot since its 2 in a normal delve, and 3-4 in her boss delve. The clones look like the boss but they dont move.

Is it similar to Hexos from the Brawler’s Guild?
