Ky'veza ? ? is the most horribly designed fight in WoW history

Did it first as BDK, then again on outlaw rogue

Honestly having done Kyveza ?? week 1 before all the S3 gear was even available it was a fun fight, yet frustrating and tedious at the same time.
9:08 was my kill time as Colossus Arms with healer Brann who was level 70 at the time.
The one shots punish you for failing a mechanic which is fine, this is a solo challenge mode afterall and how else are they going to punish you outside of making you start from scratch again?

As for needing mobility for it? Hard disagree, you barely move in this fight outside of daggers, even then small precise movements are key in this section.
The rest of it is all just spatial awareness and having a good reaction time for each mechanic.

Remove all the visual bloat on your screen of boss mods/floating combat text etc and just focus on the animations and what’s happening in the moment.

I did mine with Tank Brann, sometimes he’d jump in a portal and 1 shot himself.

Made for some excellent damage though, so much effective healing when he’s taking that sort of damage.

Melee has an advantage, but there’s really not much movement to the fight. Just stand in the middle and you can always avoid pie slices. You don’t need to move at all for massacre, just face the ads, and the lines are easy to avoid as well, just walk out of them. The switcheroo mechanic has zero movement needed.

It’s doable on the low mobility specs, though.

This by far one of the worst fights Blizzard has ever implemented. Ridiculously unfair and stupid hard.

Make fun of my skill issue, that’s fine. Drive away the player base with stupid lazy encounters that the gimmick is a 1-shot rotation. Absolutely stupid.

All iterations of solo challenge content have had one shot mechanics
Just practice to the point you dont have to think, you just react.
Also dont dps boss during inappropriate phases.
If you stay focused you’ll kill her.

Especially with upgraded ilvl armor next patch

Most people don’t even bother attempting it because it doesn’t give loot lmao. The devs don’t care.

Anytime they add stuff and it doesn’t reward loot I seriously just roll my eyes. They’re borderline clueless.

I’d say pre-nerf Mythic Tindral was far worse, but that was a raid encounter.

For a solo challenge, ?? Kyveza is still more fair than some Mage Tower challenges were before getting specific legendaries.

1 shot mechanics just mean you have to learn the dance and react to things quickly. That’s fun, and the Delve Season bosses have always been intended to be hard. It also means tanks and healers don’t get an unfair advantage by being able to just eat or heal their screwups indefinitely until the boss dies.

It’s okay if you don’t kill it. It’s 1 boss with minimal rewards for clearing, especially if we’re specifically talking about ??.

I went there yesterday after giving up on the fight because the visuals were crazy to see.
5 pulls and in 5 pulls Brann starts the pull on his gryphon and he misplace the nether rift, and got himself killed. So I have to always make sure to save Death’s Advance for that.

This is not a fun fight.

Zekvir was a bit of claustrophobic, but manageable and recoverable from some mistakes.
Underpin was a lot of fun, a lot of things going on, good damage window, mechanics that you need to get it right, and even if you make a mistake, you can recover from it.

In both fights, your reaction time was within something that is actually acceptable.

In both Zekvir and Underpin, I was playing my character. I had skills that would help to either counter something the boss was doing or to overcome something the boss is doing.

With Kyveza… oh well. I’m 90% yapping around and trying to match the pixel for the dark massacre clones.

Unlike the previous nemesis, I’m not having fun with my character.
I’ll come back later to it when I don’t have anything else to do and kill it.

Massacre becomes a lot easier if you walk backwards during it.

The invoke shadows is what is really hard, due to being so fast. Most of the times I am just guessing.

The nexus dagger mechanic can also be rather unfair if it spawns right next to you, as you now have to move a lot and very fast, without getting hit by the previous ones.

The mechanics are not the problem, I got them figured out.
It is just… unfun.

90% of the fight you’re not using any of your skills to overcome anything.
That’s a bad encounter design for a solo challenge.

You wanted to use your skills (be a blood dk and ignore all the mechanics)

I’d say that your name would be more fitting if you add an S in front of it and replaced the last i with an y.

I found it fun, but I’m not surprised a lot of people hate it because the fight doesn’t at all feel like a wow fight. In wow fights usually the difficulty is knowing what to do and when but with Kyveza it doesn’t even matter what abilities you press as long as you are doing damage…it’s just about moving your character precisely and having good visual tracking.

I mean to be fair, we can apply this to Zek’vir and Underpin since there were topics of people not enjoying those fights. I think this is how it’ll always be going forward.

Holy/Disc didn’t even have an interrupt on Zek’vir and that encounter became hell compared to anyone who did. Idk, I would love more encounters that involved playing my class but I’ll take this over being mechanically F’d over because Blizzard was stupid enough to not give us a kick. :woman_shrugging:

If I can’t kill it then it’s the worst fight ever. There have been a lot of worst fights ever.

Surely the complaints will cease in Midnight right? I got 5 bucks to bet it will!

The other nemesis fights felt much more like wow encounters where doing your rotation well to do a lot of damage was important…with zekvir I felt like the only difficulty I had was being able to kill the add…which is very “wow-esque” to me. With underpin you had the bomb kind of gimmick…but again there was still that emphasis on being able to do your rotation well which is kind of a core aspect in every single wow fight I can remember…except kyveza…your rotation doesn’t matter at all.
