⚓ Kul Tiran PC is inconsistent with Kul Tirans in lore

very carefully

Who? The ogre or the orc? I hear orcs have a habit of ripping their throats out with their teeth.

He said that High Elves were ‘the can that kept getting kicked down the road’ and he wanted to try and stop it.

So he’s really only stopped it so long as he’s the Game Director. If he gets replaced, then it’s up to whoever takes his place.

I don’t think he has long as a game director. 2 of his 3 expansions have not really be successful with the playerbase and legion was still plagued with underlying issues and was carried by the story and class design.

game directors have a history of only lasting 2-3 expansions anyway.

Not saying he should be sacked from the company. I think when he focuses on class design it goes well for that part so he can go back to that since he came from that before being promoted.

My money is on Muffinus or the Witcher 3 guy.

could just make it use the original human models if you want tbh.
maybe use a few different hairstyles and colors…

Almost all the Kul Tirans use the same model as the Stormwind humans. So why not?

I mean orcs got a up-right back option and they were considering it for forsaken, so why not?

There isn’t a good reason for why they shouldn’t.

Especially since they made the choice themselves to make most of the NPCs the same model as the Stormwind human.

only time we see the kul’tiran version is on a few humans who appear “Older” healthier folks.

There are some stockier Kul Tirans, but not very many.

Cyrus is the only reliable example of a big Kul Tiran.

There’s pretty much no reason for them not to have the normal body type. They’re ingame already.

What it boils down to is that most of the KT humans are represented with a regular human models with only some that are skinny/fat

This new race would feel like a lie if they were locked into being fat solely because of how most of their population (~70%) is represented to look “average” in game.
It won’t be representative of the true race at all with how things are currently planned.

The benefit is more customization options. It makes people happy to be able to customize their character the way they want to. Some people like the idea of playing a Kultiran but don’t want to play a fat character. Aesthetics matter to many players.

It’s something that matters to me in particular. I won’t play a Kultiran if “fat” is the only body type available. I just don’t enjoy playing a character I don’t like the look of.

You might not think the work is “necessary” but others disagree. I won’t lose any sleep over Kultirans if they decide not to give the option but I am really hoping they do. Not even so I can play a Kultiran but rather as a precedent to open up that option for other races.

Personally I wanted a less steroid junkie looking human male option and was really disappointed that not only did Kultirans end up doubling down on the steroid junkie look, but added a beer gut and double chin to boot! But if the option for different body types is added to Kultirans (even if its just standard steroid junkie and beer gut flavor), then that might open the option for other races (and other body types) as well.

Nicodemùs, you’re hitting the nail on the head. Not only is this about reinforcing their own visual language of the Kul Tirans, it’s about precedent.

If these guys don’t get body types as a customization, despite the game showing that most Kul Tirans have a body type different than what’s playable, then no one will ever.

Yea. For example, I am hoping that if Kultirans get the option then, at some point, we could see Forsaken get a Nathanos style option (assuming it doesn’t become an allied race) or at the very least get the upright spine like orcs got. Adding alternative body types as options can open up many possibilities for us.

The anchor must be weighing this thread down.

Might wanna recheck that…that’s exactly their backstory.

I wouldn’t mind regular human options for both Gilneas or Kul’tiras.
I would say that a regular human model shouldn’t be a druid though as that’s linked to the drust ancestry.

Yeah, it’s specifically stated that some of the Drust were against the war with the humans and fought alongside them and interbred.

It may be the drust druid that tells the story too.

Maybe just give gilnean and Kul’tiran voice lines as a customization option to regular Humans. Could even change the character background based on which is chosen. Simple. I do see issues with this though, but it’d work.

Except the rigs are fully done.
The only one that might need some work would be the face of the skinny one.

Yup.

That’s where the half-gant appearance came from…normal humans interbred with a group of druidic Vrykul.

Some are from a lineage that didn’t breed with Vrykul.

Yes we do, we don’t have all the magical flavors yet.

It is explained, but I’m still in support of regular size too.

Be a good time to give undead the additional option that’s been asked for. The chinese version. Just say it’s more freshly dead.

Otherwise, I’m only seeing the Kul’tirans, so far, where it makes sense.
Any suggestions?

Apparently it’s a very potent gene. But yeah, it doesn’t make the most sense.
They just wanted some Half-giants to mirror the upcoming Mok’nathal =D

Good point.

Actually no, there are no examples of regular human size druids (that i’m aware of). They are all drust descended.

No, because they’re all descended of the runts. No crossing with the full size Vrykul.

Shaman makes sense as it’s depicted in game, but druids would need to be restricted to large only.

No, they said no plans at this time. Plans change. Especially when numbers drop.

that’d be awesome.

  1. They are not Drust descendants, stop talking as if your theory is confirmed

As has been shown numerous times, it’s backed up by game lore, and thank you for calling it a theory. Something being a theory means it’s backed up by all evidence so is accepted as fact. The word you were looking for is hypothesis.

Do the random npcs in the links actually use any druidic abilities? Curious.

Lets just face facts here… Blizzard dropped the ball. What I mean by that is instead of awsome looking boats! Great scenery that could of been the new howling fjord. Instead we got Kul Tirans and Tiragarde Sound. Vrykrul would have been a much better race to join the alliance they have been around since the WotLK and have a much better skeleton and could have had a ton of more customization. I’m sure some would argue you couldn’t do that because of their height but the Kul Tirans height would have been just perfect for a playable Vrykrul.
