When patch 12.0 launches: World of Warcraft: Friendship Unleashed.
Void elf customizations
When they grow up and apologize
They should be playable eventually! And not just K’thir but Sha-Entities like Shaku the Collector as well.

K’thir, Sha-People, Qiraji, Mantid, Naga(of the Naga Brute-style biology for the Males), Cursed Arakkoa and Blood Trolls… All these Void-aligned Races have yet to become Playable in some form or another.
THEN I would play void elf, but ONLY then.
Honestly I’m surprised Blizz has these guys at all. You’d think the lawyers would be too worried about the D&D guys suing for making something too similar to mind flayers. The “faceless ones” that they started using up in Northrend looked different enough (mainly by being huge and beefy) that I could see them being “safe”, but these guys are just a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Eh, the copyright might have worn out by now, so they are more public domain. Not to mention, this is the kind of thing that they might never had a copy right for, as who knows what inspired Mindflayers in the first place? I.E. they could have been inspired by Lovecraft
K’thir resemble Cthulhu and Cthulhu is HP Lovecraft not DnD.
It should be mentioned there are a lot of versions of Cthulhu in Fiction that look just like the K’thir and Mind Flayers(and just as skinny) so Hasbro would lose any Lawsuit.
Ugh my shadow priest would look amazing as a K’thir
Yeah I was reminded of the entry on TV Tropes about this and there would be a LOT of people to sue if D&D had exclusive rights. I think they can claim the actual name; you can’t actually CALL your squid-faced spellcasters “mind flayers”, but the look is up for grabs.
Which is great! Let me make a brain-hungry squid-priest who happens to use a spell called Mind Flay, which is purely coincidental I assure you.
Even this might be in doubt now, as FFI had Mage/Wizard (Piscodeamons) and Sorcerers (Mindflayers), the first name is what they were called on the NES back in the 80s, the () hold what they are known as now or what they might have been called in Japan during that time as well,
The actual protected name is: illithids as “octopus-faced mind eater” comes from earlier works including those from guess who
