KSM means nothing anymore

I thought it was always free… it was always easier then aotc to get.

I only have two KSM achievments so I’m not sure that I have room to talk but I feel like KSM should be something the majority of the playerbase can be capable of.

KSH on the other hand is an entirely different story and shows players who is really worth their salt. Not just anyone can get it and the reward being the ability to achieve a higher item level is satisfying.

People will buy carries no matter what you do. I don’t think the rest of the playerbase has to be punished for that.

Do people seriously pay for this stuff? rank madness.

Never did.

Ksm never meant anything it’s easy as hecc to get

KSM is a freebie this expac.
I keep getting people telling me “ACKHUALLY it’s 17-18 from Shadowlands” but that can’t be any farther from the truth.

You don’t even need all 15s to even get it, my Tyr was mostly 11s when I got it.

KSM never meant anything. It was a false value people placed on it as some standard.

At this point it means that we have been to the dungeons before, and get to ride around on the most hideous mount in the game, which I will continue to not use. That’s what it means.

A lot of people buy it. I did 7 16 carries one night.

However, I don’t really think KSM has ever meant a whole lot. KSM is 2k which is like 13s or something idk and people are doing 25s. KSM is really at the bottom end of m+

People will buy anything, and the older the playerbase, the more likely it is to happen. Because the older the playerbase, the more disposable income to spend on such things.

And WoW has an old playerbase.

Personally, I dont care. I learned a long time ago you have to approach anything like this from a personal goal perspective, otherwise your never going to be happy.

KSM rating requirement got nerfed into absolute oblivion, and it wasn’t hard in Shadowlands. lol

20s still take effort, though, and aren’t free.

KSM means you have an icy-dinosaurus-thing.

This honestly shouldn’t come as a surprise, whenever there is a limited-time reward, there will be carries for it. Since as far back as people can enterprise and sell their services.

League of Legends has those end-of-season skins that are rewarded to Gold players and above, and I knew more than a handful of people that would boost others’ accounts back in school, so they could get those rewards. It was good money apparently. People like to flex, even when they haven’t earned it organically.

I always thought KSM meant something - personally. But compared to the hands-down responses in this thread saying otherwise honestly just makes me feel like I’m a bad player because I haven’t gotten it yet and it’s just “SOOO EZ”.

My RIO is just shy of KSM (I think I’m like 1930?) And I’ve pugged it most of the way - do y’all not take into account the sheer madness and stupidity of the pugs? Y’all sit here and dumb down the achievement like ‘AnYoNe CaN GeT It’ but y’all sound like you’re privileged players who clearly have a set group you go with every time.
I wanted the achievement so I can say I did it. After all the bricked keys, the lack of interrupts, the countless deaths . . . but now after reading responses it feels like such a joke because no one outside of myself would care. So why even push keys? I’m certainly not going to get KSH pugging - it’s been a nightmare of uphill battles just to get to KSM.
But it’s easy - so easy it’s not even considered a ‘real achievement’ by some (most?) players … Feels bad, man.

You are describing the difficulty of pugs. Not so much KSM itself.

When you add a degree of randomness (in the group making) to the formula, it makes easier things more difficult. LFR for example. When you have a preset group vs pugging, it can make KSM a lot more trivial.

Dealing with the pugs is part of getting KSM for some players. So yes - I AM talking about how challenging it is to get KSM if you don’t have guildies to do it with.

Its part of it…but its an outside voluntary difficulty measure that is not directly related to KSM.

Its a conditional difficulty (as you stated), and its outside the specific difficulty of KSM.

Dont get me wrong. I get you. Pugging makes everything harder. But thats intended. A lot of content is designed with a certain level of pre-made groups as the expectation. That allows for better communication, etc.

Its like using lower rank materials in crafting. The crafting difficulty remained the same. But now you may need an inspiration proc to make it.

How many people buy KSM/AOTC? Tons! We have lots of data/videos/essays on how lucrative boosting services have been for many expansions now. It’s a big economy.

Does KSM/AOTC mean anything? That’s 100% a personal question with a lot of variables. If you didn’t buy a boost, then yeah I think it’s fair to say those milestones indicate some level of competence at the game.

But like we’ve all said, the boosting economy is huge. So these achievements can only ever mean anything to you yourself. They don’t work very well as a community measure because of said economy. Measure yourself vs. yourself. Don’t measure yourself vs. others.

“Never meant anything”.

Ignore these people. Its like in LoL when Diamond players talk down to Plat players, like Plat is Iron. Platinum is top 10% of players. So on and so forth, down the ladder. Gold: top 24%.

There are a lot of people who basically just come here to gloat or flex. Its all they have. You see it all the time. Random 2400-2600+ guy telling everyone how easy your achievement is, trying to make himself look better. They spend most of their time here, seeking some kind of validation from the masses; like a guy standing in town back in the day, showing off their gear. They want validation, therefore most of their posts come off as elitist, “Look at me.” Which means how they do it is go into threads like this, and talk down to people, praying you click on their profile to see they have rating. Constantly belittling and downplaying any achievement, to prop theirs up to a higher standard.

Just ignore these people. Enjoy your KSM. Not everyone gets it. Its definitely an achievement, but when you come here to where people just want to be validated and special, they are going to talk down on it to make themselves look better.

Getting Plat in league is an achievement. Hell, so is Gold. But if you go to a place where a bunch of angry Diamonds post, well they are going to spit on you to make themselves feel better for not being Challenger. Same goes for KSM. You come here, forum regulars are going to spit on your achievement. The only way they can feel better about themselves is to put their boot on the people below them.

Keep your chin up, bud.

Keys in the 13-15 range (which is all you need for KSM) don’t really require absurd DPS. If people stay alive you’ll probably time the thing unless EVERY DPS player is pulling 20k.

Point being, there’s wiggle room to carry someone putting up poor numbers even in pugs, so long as people are doing mechanics. 20k DPS is still significant if they’re alive to do it, it’s just not “good”. So it’s not surprising that people like that do end up with KSM as long as they keep queueing to raise their score.

It’s the same for AotC. Literally every raid not doing it week 1 will have a person or three on the bottom that are clearly not skilled enough for it, but the difference is made up by others since the tuning isn’t typically that tight.
