Korthia Quest: Think of the Critters - Bugged

You force the player to click on side icon to throw treat and the critter disappears.

You throw the treat and the critters move, the target circle is small.

I walked up to a critter and extra action button showed up one time. I killed the flying creature, but no credit.

0/6 success.

Ah I see you whoever worked is just being a troll or incompetent.

I’m starting to think the bad decisions for everything in SL are actually developers/designers revolting and sabotaging the game on purpose. There’s just too many things that don’t make any sense.

A quick check on WoWhead firmly puts this quest in the “not worth my time” bucket alongside the one where you gotta put wings on and collect orbs.

You throw the side icon from max distance, mob gets a buff, and you get a debuff. THEN approach it. Focus target the mob, spam the action bar button. Kill mobs that spawn, spam the button till bar fills up.

This quest was stupid easy to complete. Spent less than 10 minutes on it. Everyone is flocking to the first one they see, then raging because mobs are running away.

Literally go to where people aren’t. They spawn all over the place. It’s not hard to find a spot with little foot traffic.

I was 1/6 and then on the second one “The little creature loses interest and runs away” before I was about to feed it. From all the complaining in zone chat about this daily, I didn’t bother finishing it.

It’s not really bugged. It’s just really easy to scare away the critters. Okay, maybe a little bugged, but I’ve seen much worse.

It didn’t work for me like this
as soon as a mob spawns in, the critter despawns while kiling the mob (< 5 sec to kill) and you can’t spam the button while a mob is alive. Next critter the bar is essentially reset to zero
still 0/6 critters progress. Bad design that’s not worth doing.

After the bar came up, I found that if I was completely still and didn’t move at all while fighting the scavenger and feeding him extra treats, he didn’t run away.

But that was just the last two for me when I tried that and it worked, maybe I just had lucky RNG. You’d think “spooking” it might just be about being too close, but instead I think even if you stay max distance, any movement will still cause them to run (which is easy to fall into, because it spawns a mob to fight for filling up some of the bar, and a lot of people habitually move a bit while fighting).

I bet this quest will get hotfixed for this issue not to exist next time.

I think you’re probably right, and it’s just a funky intended design they’ll modify next time it’s up. (Which might not be that often, this is the first time I’ve seen this quest ever spawn).

I completed this quest, it is totally doable but just really badly designed and not worth your time unless you just really feel like putting up with a quest that’s 10 times harder to complete than anything else in the area.

I don’t see anything bugged with it, it is just purposely designed to be painful and stupid.

I was in an area where no one was around. I threw the treat and started feeding it the action button. The mob appeared to attack. The critter disappeared about two seconds after the mob appeared. There was no one around. This happened multiple times.

Don’t mind the wings one. It’s actually quite easy when you find the routes with 3 orbs in one jump.

However.

The reagents quest and now this one are added to my personal blacklist.

I don’t care that it gives 150 codex, and 125 Deaths Advance rep.

It is so much more time consuming than literally the other 2 quests offered today of go here collect 5 items. Win.

On referring to the actual OP.

Throwing the first treat despawns the stage 1 gromit. Bug #1

Interacting with a gromit and someone walks close to it so it “runs away” because it’s still coded for stage 1 instead of focusing on me. Bug #2

The random rng on the gromit “losing interest” while you are in combat for a millisecond to long while fighting off the razorwing ambusher. Bug #3

Bug #3
 /10 chars

Sometimes the critter “loses interest and runs away”, that’s intentional. Happens maybe about 1/3 of the time I’d estimate

Screw this quest.

That was one quest I didn’t do. I did the other 4. That quest is just a major annoyance. I was able to complete Shaping Fate on my warlock without doing it.

DH tank here: managed to kill the first mob, feed the critter and then have a go at the second that spawned; critter derezzed bec I’m obviously not fast enough. Poot.

I had the same issue. It seems that the critter will de-spawn when any other player gets within it’s detection radius. If you’re on a busy server, good luck finishing this quest.

Whoever developed this quest really hates the players. The critters will despawn even if you have already engaged and another players comes along. It’s not like they are just everywhere that this isn’t an issue.

Think of Critters quest
Consumption rare mob
Tiny branches with treasures on top
Maw boss with deathgrippable adds that block LOS

There’s a trend here, Blizzard is intentionally designing things to piss off players

Hopefully they get around to fixing it before it comes again on rotation.

Up until about a week a go I couldn’t do the Revendreth ‘Dirty Job’ quests because my ping of no less than 200ms wouldn’t let me pick up dredgers. Now I can pick up a dredger, but it takes many right-clicks
