I am new to WoW. I just started playing last month on the 17th. I’ve played Runescape and PSO2 before NG and to me, no amount of playing any other MMOs will prepare you for WoW. It made my past experiences obsolete that’s how different the game it is imo.
I don’t where to start, but battlegrounds for a new player is not fun as there is no in-game guide as far as I’ve seen. Even if you are a proactive player there are things you are bound to miss or fall trap to aka noob traps. Since the 20th-anniversary event is ongoing you have event participants to PvP vets playing Korrak’s Revenge, so when you queue up you get all walks of life on Alterac Valley.
This is the beginner server still that I am playing it on. I don’t know if experience players are coming on the noob servers or what, but the skill level is never equal. The closest genre battlegrounds reminded me of is a very interactive MOBA. Like Blizz got inspired by their WoW RTS mods and made it a game mode in their MMO. Does anyone remember that? Too young to play at the time, but I’ve heard the stories.
Most of the time I’m just standing around even at level 72 but my item level is not great and it’s not for PvP I believe. Even if you can’t fight just doing the quest to make your team stronger is not easy as you think. You will die in the crossfire and some quests are harder than others like getting the eye.
I can go on, but this was just a small glimpse from a new player’s POV not trying to make this long. There are many issues that Korrak’s Revenge has like how it says it’s “quick game mode” but some games can last a while. I am not sure if any other battleground maps suffer from this issue or if it’s unique to Korrak’s Revenge, because of how old the map is, but it’s leaving mixed feelings overall.
It took me a while to figure this out and how battlegrounds and Korrak’s Revenge works I didn’t figure this out right away, but it finally clicked. I can enjoy it a lot more at least now that I have an idea about how it plays out and how to get the faction mount.
