I think this new professions system has a lot of potential if they can respond to feedback and make appropriate changes quickly. We’re talking about hotfixes and changes every patch.
The downfall of the new system will be if Blizzard goes back to the old attitude, “It is what it is. Better luck next expansion!”
I think (from the interviews I’ve seen), that Blizzard is working hard to try to shake that reputation of being non-responsive to feedback (at least for an entire two-year cycle).
I believe that most players are reasonable. We’re (generally) not expecting them to re-design the whole system or anything radical, but they do need to address certain issues, such as knowledge point refunds (or gated resets), UI quirks, and whatnot within a matter of weeks, not months or years.
If they show that they can address major concerns quickly, then it will do them great credit in building on the positive vibes they’re created with this expansion.
