Still trying to complete Alchemy. So having to go to Zarleck cavern a dark dingy unpleasant location and kill Flayers at a return of approx 1:4 is ridiculous. Expansion almost finished still trying to complete profession and we have these absurd quests that just suck time. Same system turns up in next Xpansion after 20+ years I’ll look for a new game.
i’m miffed at how quickly i maxed out my mining knowledge points (and also keep accruing unusable points), but my jewelcrafting is still so far away.
i don’t do public crafting orders, so i haven’t gotten most of those weeklies. i don’t like interacting with people in that way. i shouldn’t be this far behind though.
The gathering professions were meant to be much faster to max than the crafting professions, because it makes sense for crafters to be able to specialize in a craft before others, but less so with gatherers. I’d also make sure that you’re getting the other points of knowledge every week, since if you’re not getting the relatively easy crafting order quest done, then you’re likely missing out on other sources as well.
I agree, The only “professions” completed are GATHERING: Mining, Skinning, and Herbs. Crafting. Is a Blizzard Profession Dev. FAILURE. Ion Hazzy-boy said “We want the crafting to mean something and have a place alongside raiding and dungeon gear” Pfft.
I would say they pretty much succeeded with their intent.
Why not just send the public crafting orders from an alt to get the points each week?
i don’t play alts, if i want to play something else, I play a different game.
i am more annoyed by accruing useless mining knowledge points in excess of 90 than being behind in JC.
Then turn the knowledge into mettle?
i have a ton of mettle lmao.
why does it give me both knowledge points and mettle, if I can’t even use the knowledge points anyway? bizarre design.
is this intended? it seems lazy and stupid. why give me mettle & knowledge points, and then the knowledge points just sit there collecting dust?
Future plans for more gathering knowledge or just crap design?
It’s very useful, you can use it to guarantee max rank crafts. People will pay extra for that on crafting orders, or you can use it to enhance your profit margins on materials you sell on the auction house, as most of the materials aren’t guaranteed rank 3 and so are priced accordingly.
But I’m getting plenty of mettle, more than I would ever need. Especially when I only craft for myself. I don’t need to sell crafted items, it’s not interesting or necessary. My professions are for me.
Literally sitting on like 2k mettle, and I do use it occasionally.
But WHY is it giving me knowledge points? Lol
Well, blizzard doesn’t design the game just for you. The mettle you have is obviously more than sufficient for your needs, but for a lot of people, it’s the limiting factor in their gold making because it is relatively scarce.
I understand that. I’m just asking if it’s normal to be getting knowledge points after you’re maxed out, in addition to the mettle.
Why doesn’t it just convert the item into mettle only?
Because there’s a vendor to do that
Right, but if you’re maxed out, why would you want to keep getting the points? It’s just lazy design lol. Obviously if you can’t do anything with the points but convert them to mettle, why isn’t it just dispensing mettle instead of the items to convert it to specializon points which you then convert at a vendor?
I’m just asking if this is another infinite flight stones chest thing where blizzard just wants you to click more crap because why not.
I appreciate you trying to help give me insight on crafting. I am not struggling to understand it conceptually, though. I’m trying to make sense of why it’s designed how it is, and you’re not going to make me suddenly think it’s great design just because you can convert it, when it should just be converted once you’ve maxed profession sped points.
If it’s considered a currency then it should be treated as such.
To use with the vendor
HAMBRICK this is so silly. I’m glad many players have billions of alts and love crafting, but plenty don’t lol.
It still doesn’t make any sense to me
