Impressive how Vanitas/Darkness was seemingly around in Young Xehanort’s Time Period and yet…
One thing I noticed is that Darkness seems to be popping up behind tyrants abusing their power and doesn’t even resemble his usual silhouette(which resembles Lauriam which would presumably suggest he is Lauriam’s Heartless) and yet the theme is Maleficent’s… Could this Darkness infact be Maleficent?
Is Maleficent fulfilling the Book of Prophecies’ statements of them falling to Darkness. They don’t fall to Darkness yet are just as malevolent as in the Book of Prophecies so she infuses them with Darkness to match the Prophecies!
Xehanort has been deluding himself into believing that the Darkness of People’s Hearts is behind everything and needs to be controlled due to Maleficent using Darkness to make him and others think that.
Considering the slight implications that the Heartless are the inhabitants of the World’s true forms(restored to said true forms due to being reminded of it by the Darkness they were once comprised of) it gives interesting implications about Maleficent and what Cosmic Force caused her Heart to leave her Body allowing it to Time Travel the first time.
When Maleficent lost control of her Heart(thanks to Ansem unlocking it) and became a Dragon her Aura was not the Purple or Blue Glow of Darkness that she was using in the previous fight but the Green Glow of her Flames. The Green Glow of Evil(which she herself describes as a distinct Cosmic Force in her Character Files).
The Master of Masters(who might be her lackey Pete) and Maleficent effectively made the Darkness of People’s Hearts a scapegoat for Evil’s Corruption by:
- Making sure the inhabitants of the Worlds created by the Book of Prophecies would start out as Heartless only to have their Hearts released by the Keyblade and sent into dormant Nobodies thus creating People.
- Making it so that the Dandelions who are the only Lifeforms not originally Heartless would use the Power Bangle to consume the Fragments of the Book of Prophecies’ Heartless thus setting them up to either turn into Heartless or spawn Unversed(the Heartless Fragments reviving themselves).
- Making sure the entity known as Darkness(I.E. Lauriam’s Heartless) gets access to the Book of Prophecies while posing as Brain so that he can arrange the creation of Nobodies while informing Maleficent of the Book of Prophecies’ existence.
- Arranging for Maleficent to become a being like Lauriam’s Heartless in order to corrupt Worlds in order to add Darkness to those entrenched in Evil to make it look like the Evil came from either Darkness the Cosmic Force or Darkness the Entity.
