Colossus fury would be cool too, just swap em.
They went with the war3 thematic from Blademaster and mountain king, to be slayer and mountain thane, so they wanted to force some thematic reasons in the choices here.
Since the mountain king used two weapons, it would obviously fit fury, and they saws fit to put into prot, cause you can swap one weapon for a shield i guess.
The “one weapon guy” would not fit the “two arms occupied hero spec”.
And it is a damn shame, cause it would feel arms would do better with thane, since most builds play around us using tclap to spread rend.

Honestly happy with the split as it is, Colossus Arms is fun AF.
Prot has access to two solid trees. Fury/Arms both sharing slayer and Fury having access to thane works nicely too.
