This is a weapon with a lot of history, and easily one of the most powerful weapons ever made by the people of Azeroth, since it was able to shatter Frostmourne.
It’s also odd Magni never commented on The Ashbringer or had hidden dialog for it, when he’s the one who forged it.

There’s a lot of the artifact weapons that should’ve had in-depth or personal talk about with. Some defnitely not as defined or known like Ashbringer but surely there’s some NPCs, like you said, Magni with Ashbringer who would’ve had a lot to say about it.

Also hate that these weapons are just defunct now. To sit in our banks forever collecting dust.
I really hate we’ll never see another person wield The Ashbringer, especially since we’re going into a Death themed expansion.

Magni’s been really hyper-focused on the woons, so he probably forgot he forged Ashbringer.
Besides, we don’t need Ashbringers, Doomhammers, Scythes of Elune or anything of the sort. We have… we have… plot armor!
I honestly find it more annoying for some. As a Feral Druid main, you get two daggers, even Guardian druid has TWO fist weapons but when it is all said and done, you don’t learn jack on how to dual wield.

You have my deepest sympathies. You brave soul.
Ashbringer is literally just a really good sword. There are artifacts that are Waaaaaaaaaaaay more powerful lorewise that was just wasted by the end of legion.
Literally ALL the legendary weapons of warcraft lore was destroyed by the end of the xpac.
Staff of Sargeras… lol
Just a really good sword? That’s like calling Frostmourne “just a good sword.”
The Ashbringer turned entire legions of Undead to Ash with a single swing of the blade.

They really didn’t care about BFA so it makes sense.
Well, I’m still salty I don’t own Frostmourne. Take a number.
This was kind of one of the things I was worried about when they brought in the artifact weapons. Having a raid boss drop a version of a legendary weapon is one thing. Its neat, but it’s not really canon. It can always just reappear later.
But now, they’ve taken all these powerful, not to mention lore significant, items and it terms of story handed them off, destroyed the, etc. I guess they could pull the old “the x was lost, but has once again been found/reforged/wished out of a hat”, but it does kinda feel sad to have some of these just taking up bag space somewhere.
Imbued with the holy essence of a dead Naaru, cutting down undead and demons like wheat before a scythe, obliterating them so utterly that only ashes remain.
Strom’kar was “a really good sword.” Ashbringer was a bit more than that.
In any event, while Knaifu demonstrated that these weapons can still have a role in the story and a few may reappear at some point, their time in the hands of the player is over and done. That chapter is closed.

I don’t see why Blizz couldn’t bring back the Ashbringer, they brought back Xal’atath for this expac.
The way I see it we are just one quest away from someone asking us to collect 12 ‘essences of light’ to restore the Ashbringer to its former glory.
Edit: by that token we are also one quest away from arbitrarily resurrecting Tirion Fordring as well.
I suppose if we ever get involved with The Naaru or a lightbased faction again, they could just expel sargerass energy from the blade.
Maybe we get involved with the AU where we beat up Yrel and steal Xe’ra and use her to revive Ashbringer. Or whatever counterpart equivelent of Xe’ra in AU.
This is all very true. It’s kind of sad to think about now, but Blizzard could just wave their magic plot wand and bring whatever they want back… I mean… It’s not like the brought back a famous anti-hero/villain demon hunter and changed a bunch of his story/history in order to make him more sympathetic and…
Wait…where was I going with this? Oh right. Medivh. I mean Medivh.
Lore wise? Yeah it’s done. But in terms of the weight of the item?

Maybe we to to AU Azeroth. That would be a trip.
That kinda falls into a trap a lot of universes do, in which once you reach the end of your villain and threat roster, you start doing alternative realities.
Like how every time The DC universes gets screwed beyond repair, The Flash just runs it back and makes a new one.
Wish we got Gorehowl as an artifact weapon rather than just a weapon drop from a boss.
