What i mean by this is if you look through wows history its incredible how many times they have used the old james bond villian tactic of capturing but not killing important figures. Can blizzard atleast try to write a cohearant story without josef fritzl appearing to capture someone and lock them up in his basement?
The list of characters who have gone through this is endless and i may miss some but here goes.
- Varian
- Anduin x2 maybe more
3 jania x2
- Thrall
- Baine x60000000
- malfurian
- Broll
- Valeera
9.illidan
- All the demon hunters
- Tyrande went missing
- Every alliance player character who went to bfa.
- Talanji
14.zul
15 ra’den
- Saurfang
- Marshal windsor
- Every orc was captured and put into a concentration camp.
- Lilian voss (by her dad)
- Mathias shaw
- Gamon
- Hogger
- Grom
- Yrel
- Muru
- All the old gods where imprisoned
- Vaelastraz from BWL
- Garrosh was imprisoned at the end of mop and escaped
I could continue but i think thats enough to prove the point. Nobody in azeroth can hold a prisoner properly and its insane the amount of times the same thing happens either a. We rescue them b. They escape or c. They get corrupted and killed. Its borderline meme status now and the writers should try something more creative and not just another iteration on oh no big bads captured baine?! Or oh no big bads escaping!

I feel like they need to be killing off more characters, especially Thrall, and then letting Azeroth (and more) go crazy over it.

The concept of new ideas is not their forte.
I disagree. They should not kill off more characters. But thrall needs to go. Maybe he should go help Illidan wherever he is.
The jailor just wanted anduin why on earth would he just leave the rest alive for us to rescue?
IMO the Jailer needs to wake up because the Maw has more people coming through than LAX.
I am also willing to sacrifice Anduin.
The Jailor is just misunderstood.
THey definitely need to kill characters and make background characters just that they stay in the background.

Yeah, too many characters have gone wayyy beyond their use-by-date.
They weren’t afraid to kill off entire expansions of old god content and plotential (yes, PLOTential) in one patch, but Sylvanas?
Nah she needed to stay alive after WotLK, such an interesting and core character that totally isn’t Illidan 2.0 /s
Wont happen they will end up kidnapped, or arrested by someone at some point in their lives
Because the story is bad. Whoever named the Jailer obviously never heard of the name test. Does the name sound like it could sell? This villain is the low point of WoW storytelling.
Sounds like a character you would find in a kids cartoon. Maybe ben 10 fits him more. This game is now world of jailbreaks as that seems to be the most consistant plot point so far.
The guy can’t be bothered putting a brigade in front of the portal you obviously left from when you escaped. I mean this story is terrible.
- Billionz of souls captured and imprisoned in the maw
Tbh though the capturing of won’t stop, Hero. You will save me, won’t you?
And yet you have a dial that tells you that he is aware of you. Even the idea of the warded area is a stupid idea. He knows where you are, he is just indifferent, and when he is irked he seeks to punish us. Running to Ven’ari’s warded area would actually be a giant billboard to send a brigade in and clear it out.
I mean its not like he has a lack of manpower which could be associated with bond villans its just lazy design and writing.
You have eluded the jailor mawwalker?
How is it possible???
what trickery is this
Yeah, supposedly he has a force LARGER THAN THE LEGION. Says a Tauren that had never seen the full might of the Legion and could never make that statement as a point of fact.
I mean lets be real if the tauren said it it must be true. Also he captured the damn runecarver who crafted his most powerful weapond and such yet he allows us to just wander into his house partially free him, murder a bunch of his allies and then gives us time to craft actual armour which should take at a minimum an hour or 2 and then nonchalontly walk out the door.
Yeah, this is a bad expansion, especially immersion wise. BFA had a crappy gear system but it had a good story idea until you get to Nazjatar. WoW likes to make a story about two sides fighting only to make an anti-climatic sore finish via third party. It is the storytelling equivalent of a pizza burn on the roof of your mouth.
Shadowlands has a story and a villain that was written by a committee that explicitly made sure no one’s idea was better than anyone else’s and made sure to go for the blandest ideas they could.
