So im on a pve server and I go offline while out of combat. I log back on later and find that im now a ghost. Arent you supposed to be unattackable by mobs when you are offline? Is this just a weird bug that happened? In all my years playing wow I have never logged out while out of combat just to be dead when I log back on.
Only if the game realizes youâre offline. Thereâs often a period of time between you losing connection where, due to the vagaries of the internet, the servers canât tell the difference between you disconnecting and a lack of input, and thus youâre still in game, despite being dcâd.
If you hit the âexit nowâ button, you are still in game for the 30ish seconds that it would have taken you to do the manual sit-down logout. You can be killed in that time.
Did you click the âExit Gameâ button while not in a major city or inn? If so, you character stays as an entity in the world for the full 30 seconds to logout, even if youâre no longer seeing it on your screen
Yep. That would explain why I was dead upon logging in.
Yea it takes 20 seconds before your character actually disconnects. If you click âexit nowâ you take a gamble. The wait is to prevent people from abusing logout to run from pvp/etc.
If you DC and not log out you can die
I would expect something similar happened
DId you alt f4 instead of logging out? Thatâs the obvious way for that to occur
Coulda also logged and they attacked u at a similar time and confused the server.
