Please explain to me how another player is able to attack and kill me and not even be flagged for PvP, which causes me to not be able to fight back.
I was in badlands and all of a sudden this random mage runs up and starts attacking me, but I couldnt attack back because he was somehow unflagged for PvP.
This was on a PvP server by the way…
badlands is a PVP zone

Badlands is a neutral zone. PVP is enabled.
Might’ve been a nameplate bug, or an addon issue that prevented you from seeing the flag.
No I was trying to attack, but I kept getting the message that I couldn’t attack them. There was no nameplate bug, the guy was literally unflagged for PvP and attacking me at the same time. I was in the middle of badlands, so there was no Zone-in lag or anything like that for him that would have caused that.
Did u submit a ticket? Blizz could look at the log if it is true.
This is a GM problem. Open a ticket. Don’t complain here, because we don’t know what’s going on ether.
Its not that big of a deal right now for me to open a ticket. It just surprised and confused me when it happened. If I ever experience it again then i’ll open a ticket. Hopefully hackers haven’t found a way to do some crazy stuff like this and unflag themselves in PvP and still be able to attack someone.
I’ve been playing wow for about 14 years now, so I have a pretty good understanding of how the game runs and works with servers and lag and everything. So I don’t know what happened there.
I was pressing the buttons to attack but I kept getting the message “You cant attack that Target” while targeting the mage. I also had enemy nameplates toggled and his nameplate was blue to me and not red.
I was on Sulfuras which is a PvP server and I was in like the middle of badlands, so the mage should have been 100% flagged for PvP when it happened.
This exact same thing just happened to me. Level 55 gnome mage killed me in badlands while i was flagged and they weren’t. Couldn’t attack back. searched google to try and figure out what is going on and this thread came up. never experienced this before, weird bug

must be people hacking the game or something like how botters can flyhack under the ground to mine rtvs
except these probably aren’t botters and are just griefers who very understandably believe that blizzard won’t do anything about it
Even on a PVE server, if you were flaged and he wasn’t, the second he attacks you it will flag him for PVP.
Report it as a bug, or cheating and blizard should look into it.
Perhaps they are logged out and waiting (maybe watching on a stealthed second account) and when they see someone coming to a quest hub they log in… Don’t they have 10 seconds of invulnerability?
