You encounter three long-dead famous characters somewhere in the Shadowlands. After all that’s, like, the entire gimmick of the expansion, yo.
Our eligible bachelors this time are;
Varok Honorfang
Kael’thas Setbackstrider
Cairne Beefhoof
The one you save gets returned to Azeroth to do main character things with 100% death immunity in all future storylines.
The one you abandon stays in the Shadowlands. You might hear about them later, they might have cameos, but they’ll never be important in the story ever again; they’ll only ever be a spooky Shadowlands spirit.
The one you kill gets completely obliterated from the lore and you’ll never have to hear or think about them ever again.
Kill Cairne, dude did nothing so losing him wont be a big loss.
Abandon Varok, dude deserves his rest.
Save Kael’thas. Just because I can never remember current blood elf dude’s name.
Abandon Saurfang. Save him later if possible. At the very least hopefully we save some RP time during ICC runs.
Kill Kael’thas. Burning Crusade ruined his character to the point where he is the one that I’d care least about. However if he were set up for a redemption arc, that would be interesting. He’d probably have some interesting thoughts about the political developments of the blood elves under Lor’themar.
Truth be told I’d save all three of them if I could.
Oh I guarantee she’s definitely callous enough to do that, especially since her Shadowlands model bears the scar over her eye that Saurfang gave her in their duel. I fully expect to see him as a boss in the Maw raid.
Kill Varok, because he’s fail to the horde and he was a raid boss maybe thanks to Sylvanas like Arthas.
Abandon Kael’thas , because is another traitor for Sin’doreis.
and save to Cairne, for save to the horde.
I’m not sure that Saurfang can add anything more to the story at this point. I feel like he’s served his role whereas Kael’thas may have some nuggets of wisdom for Lor’themar or something, so…
