this mary sue character has been in the game too long. king varian who was the alliance king and leader was killed off but his mirrior on the horde side doesnt die? Have him die trying to save bane or something but he needs to die.

They can build a shrine to him in orgrimar if you kneel to his statue you get +2000 to all stats. they could call the buff thralls godlike gift.

My 2 top picks for warchief would be

1. Non Corrupted Garrosh (anti alliance, non racist Garrosh)
2. Thrall

Not Saurfang, he’s blatantly a traitor and should go with the alliance, a shame that a warrior with such honor ended up being a traitor and alliance sympathizer

And no other horde figures strike me as “warchief” material. Sylvanas is going off the deep end, which is a shame because she initially did well. After she burnt teldrassil down with civilians…naw. after she jailed baine…naw.

Then again Baine has consistently been somewhat of an alliance sympathizer, I could overlook her jailing of Baine if she didn’t burn teldrassil down. Maybe Teldrassil which housed only military targets, but def not with civilians.

No horde leader measures up, Thrall will be the next Warchief, and I hope he’s around for a looong time, getting sick of the constant switching.

Saurfang isnt a traitor. He is senile as written, but not a traitor. Him getting captured and refusing to leave doesnt make hima traiter just stupid.

Blizzard loves ruining characters in bfa apparently. Sylvanas, Jaina, Saurfang have all beem butchered by the writing team.

Thrall has had his heroe’s journey. He has been beaten and had to become stronger to overcome his foes. He isn’t a character that walks up and never fails at anything.

voljin was warcheif was what 1 expansion? all of wod then died at the begining of legion? varian was the alliance king since before classic. just like thrall was warchief before classic up to mop. so saying voljin is equivelent to varian is not true at all.

@vadimier what do i have against thrall? hes a plot armor char who has survived many wars just because of his name. hes the one who lead the horde into night elf lands and killed them to get more territory.

at the end of cata, “thrall we made an item strong enough to defeat deathwing but the dragon aspects are not strong enough to use it, only you can save us!”

thall tells jaina he has to kill the kul tirans and her dad and that she cant interfear. theramore gets nuked and jaina wants to destroy orgrimar, thrall stops her because killing horde is bad.

hes imbodiment of many sue and needs to die. are you not bored with thrall just showing up to save the day?

varian was the alliance king since before classic.

As I recall the leader in classic and TBC was Anduin with Bolvar ruling as Regent. Vol’jin had been around just as long as a leader and started taking a more major role in Wrath (same time as varian returned) with the retaking of echo isles. Vol’jin may not have been warchief as long but as far as how active he was in the story it’s not that much less than Varian. Plus Varian’s death was far more climactic and satisfying than Vol’jin’s.

Every single major character in wow has survived way longer than they should have due to plot armor. Personally I think Jaina is a better example of an “alliance” version of thrall if we’re going to try to make 1:1 ratios for the different characters. And Garrosh was probably the best fit a match for Varian, as they were basically the same character type but one became a hero and the other a villian.
