Kill Command Buff Go Live?

I just noticed something…

Before the last reset, my Kill Command did a bit more damage than Cobra Shot - according to the tooltip. Not a lot more, but more.

Now my tooltip shows Cobra Shot at 2,675 damage and Kill Command at 2,616 damage. Is the tooltip wrong or did they rescind the 15% buff to Kill Command in all scenarios and not just PvP?

At this point, it almost makes more sense to just spam Cobra Shot and ignore Kill Command.

Additionally, looking at my damage breakdown in game from two full M+ keys:

  • Cobra Shot is 9.4% of my overall damage.
  • Kill Command is 5% from Pet 1 and 4.2% from Pet 2. That’s 9.2% total.

To be fair, I’m a bit tired at the moment and might be missing something that makes it make sense, but I’m drawing a blank right now. Anyone have any insight?

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the developer either just blanket nerfed or made a mistake that causes Kill Command to assume its PVP for everything same as AC talent makes all and any pet/npc/controlled hit at 35% less than it should.

Submit a bug report. My numbers were very similar between patches as well. I made sure to see what my KC damage was without AC before and after patch and while it did increase, it wasn’t by much and it was also still below CS damage.

I doubt anyone from Blizzard actually reads these forums, so submitting a bug report is the best course of action.

Tested on Target dummy Initially with Killer Instinct and AotB talent KC hit harder.

Non crit KC hit for over 2600 non crit CS hit for 2150 per shot Crit’s of course were 1K higher for both on average.

Kill command did More overall damage 40k for CS 50.5K for Kill command with Killer instinct and AotB .

Test was also tried with Killer Cobra Talent this dropped KC overall damage to less than CS damage perhaps this is what you are seeing?

NO BW or WS used. tested with AC talent doing one for one gap widened further 49K CS to 72K for KC.

223 I Level secondary’s are 34% Crit 15% haste 32% Mast 11% Vers

That said being able to weave in multiple Cobra shots per Kill command {as many as 3 CS if focus amount sufficient} Cobra shot pulled way ahead due to its low cooldown and lower cost per use. Even with AotB as Tier 7 Talent.

This is five minutes on a training dummy just doing a basic rotation with no cooldowns.

19.5% - Cobra Shot - Max Hit = 1,920; Max Crit = 3,812

8.3% - Kill Command(Pet 1) - Max Hit = 1,191; Max Crit = 2,381
8.0% - Kill Command(Pet 2) - Max Hit = 1,191; Max Crit = 2,381

16.3% - Combined Kill Command - Max Hit = 2382; Max Crit = 4,762

When factoring in both pets performing a Kill Command for each click, it does hit harder than Cobra Shot. However, before Tuesday, the difference was more. I was only able to find one of my previous training dummy logs to compare them, which is below.

(Note: I don’t know what my item level was at the time, but the difference is what matters - not the actual numbers. Current item level is 229.)

17.3% - Cobra Shot - Max Hit = 1,406; Max Crit =2,792

10.7% - Kill Command(Pet 1) - Max Hit = 977; Max Crit = 1952
10.2% - Kill Command(Pet 2) - Max Hit = 977; Max Crit = 1952

16.3% - Combined Kill Command - Max Hit = 1954; Max Crit = 3904

Currently Cobra Shot is doing 80% of the damage of Kill Command.
Before the buff, Cobra Shot was doing 72% of the damage.

If both were buffed 15%, shouldn’t that have scaled linearly? That’s an honest question by the way. I’ve learned the hard way that statistics can mess up expectations. Because we cast more Cobra Shots than Kill Commands, does that mean the 15% scales better for Cobra Shot than Kill Command? Any mathematicians know the answer? lol
