Kiljaden Mythic

I know its only an expansion back but… how is this still a thing? I’ve seen some killer bosses before (orb boss in throne of thunder etc) that could still destroy the unwary but this one?

This is one of the only bosses I can recall in game with a one shot insta-death mechanic most classes can’t deal with.

Every class can deal with it. It’s called positioning. Try it sometime.

Don’t be the guy who posts stuff like this on low level alts. It’s not a good look.

kil’jaden is notoriously hard to the point Method etc had to stack druids with roar to get the kill. A slow class like yours (DK) is going to be decimated by the orb drops. The many many orb drops.

Don’t DK’s have an ability to prevent knock backs? They might be able to cheese an orb they messed up on positioning.

The key is to get knocked back into the next orb, or so I’ve been told as I’ve never cleared it. I’m not sure if all classes can make it or not.

Yeah, the first orb sucks since the mechanic to handle it revolves around dispelling a tank.

The 2 other posters have no idea what they are talking about so ignore them.

No, not every class can handle the first orb that drops in the center of the platform. It is an unavoidable knock back off the platform. Not saying that’s bad, just what it is.

No, Method didn’t stack Druids for roar because that would be stupid. They stacked rogues for soaks since they can both cloak off the small soak debuff and cheat death the large soak. And also feint to soak focused dread flame.

Kil’jaeden mythic was one of the few times I can legit say the dev team may have overdone it on mechanics.

They stacked both. The kill had 5 druids and… 4 rogues if memory serves?

Nowadays, the soaking mechanic is fairly irrelevant - the dot doesn’t do too much to a level 120. The knock back - does. I should add you can effectively burn through the central orb dropping which makes things easier but still need to move across a fairly larger chamber for…6? Orbs dropping? Something like that. Movement abilities work okay once or twice but after that you’re in trouble.

DHs can effectively ignore this via glide.

Just wait until people start trying to do M G’huun next expansion.

Wow progress saves this kind of info.

5 rogues
5 Druids

2 guardian being that Druid tanks were the meta then. 1 resto and 2 balance.

A lot of Druids was kinda common. They used 6 on Maiden.

But regardless, the moving had nothing to do with orb wipes. The center orb is a tank dispel and the others in the intermission you use the orb itself to bounce to the next orb.

In darkness phase you gate portal to dodge it until the nerfed it to always drop in set places then you just positioned accordingly.

Yeah DHs can cheese and once dps is high enough to burst through the center orb anyone will be able to do it.

I get that but (and again - I’m recalling this from memory instead of checking the guide) I recall several needs for a movement boost. One at the beginning then at least one after the first round of orbs dropping. And yes you can aim the explosion but we’re not talking about the easiest of mechanics.

I can’t really recall an instance when a wipe mechanic was put into a boss fight with quite this brutality. Or at least… not one that springs to mind. Maybe a few of the VERY old ones (e.g. pre nerf Razorgore)…

I can post it on my priest if you’d like?

Otherwise I will be posting on this DK because it is my designated forum toon due to the default choice on the new forums.

They had Druid tanks because Rage of the Sleeper made the Druid immune to knockbacks.

Lol my guild did that on Tuesday, we wanted to get realm first sadly that’s removed. But yeah those damn orbs one mistake would ruin it. At least we got the kill

They had Druid tanks because of Stampeding Roar and because Feral (which also had roar) was trash.

I got no problem dealing with the orbs as a DK. Only part I can’t do is once im in the shadow phase I have no idea how to see the orbs and where they spawning. My DH can do it easily just pop the wings from jumping and it takes you out of the knockback.

Some people need to stay on foot and handle KJ but most people who are too slow to handle the orbs can stay mounted and never engage in combat with KJ to tackle the orbs until he stops flying.

Source: I’ve pugged Mythic KJ a bunch of times in BFA and led the groups.
