Kicked off flight path

every time i get disconnected from the game while on a flight path when i log back in my character falls out of the sky and i’m now stuck or dead in the middle of nowhere(sometimes i’m lucky and its just outside a town)
why is this happening? how has this not been fixed yet?

That sounds like an interesting travel exploit. Is it consistent? You drop where you were over when disconnected?

I was getting a lot of something similar before layering was removed. Instead of being disconnected I would get an error that the instance was aborted, at which point it would jerk me back to the prior zone just before the loading border, and no longer on a flying mount. Sometimes that dropped me to my death. Other times it dropped me places that were otherwise inaccessible.

One example was a mountain between Barrens and Mulgore, but up near the peak there is a completely empty cave. I got to explore that before making my way carefully down the mountain. Another was flying from Zoram’gar to Orgrimmar and it dropped me in the river north of the bridge, but then I couldn’t cross the bridge walking either.

The underlying problem in my case is an old router and my roommates torrent client spamming that router with data, uploads and downloads. The disconnections could be some problem on your side where loading the new zone is failing, even if part of the issue is how Blizzard is managing disconnections when you’re on a taxi.

You couldn’t afford a real griphon so here is a mongo griphon who will drop you in the worst spots possible. IN THE MIDDLE OCEAN?!?! PERFECT!!! THANKS MONGO GRIPHON.

If you haven’t already, I’d post your experience in the bug forum.

Your story brought back memories of the very early days of EQ2, when it was not uncommon for the griffin taxi to just disappear mid-flight and you fall to your death without being disconnected!

Well that explains the poor undead dude that dropped out of the sky while I was questing the other day

This happened to me a couple times during the DDoS attacks.

I take flights all the time and I think this has happened once since I’ve been playing classic. Getting disconnected for no reason is your problem. That never happens to me.

i’m playing from work in my car on my laptop getting wifi through my phone. i get dc’d once an hour usually. but thats no excuse for a flight path kicking me off mid flight.

Happened to me once on a flight between Storm wind and Iron forge. When I was a much lower level.

Disconnected mid-flight. Reconnected at the exact space I disconnected from, this time sans Griffin.

As I was falling, I had the presence of mind to bubble before I hit the ground. Saved, but where did I end up as a newbie between those 2 cities? Yup, you guessed it. Burning Steppes.

More specifically, by the lava lake at the Altar of Storms with the mountains at my back. So my only way out was to get across the lava onto the small path leading to the Altar. Does lava kill you outright? I don’t know, and I had just bubbled and didn’t want to wait another 5 minutes.

Turns out lava is like water but you take damage ticks every second or two. I barely made it to the other side. Safely on land, now how do I get out of this area?

Walking down the path, it became very apparent that everything here outlevelled me but was also elites. My aggro radius didn’t help. And eventually I found out the flight path was on the other side of the map. So thanks for the Burning Steppes flight path as I’ve never been there!

“has this not been fixed yet?” NOCHANGES no fixing

This happened to me one time it looks like it’s directly connected with disconnecting… so I guess if you want to save yourself some walking you could intentionally pull the plug somewhere you want to go
