Got kicked from an expedition for literally no reason at all, and now i have a deserter buff? How is that fair?
Maybe you were kicked because you’re level 80?
/giggles
Jokes aside, I dunno. There is some bad players out there that are well, jerks in the game too.
Yeah i mean obviously jerks but, a deserter buff? How does that work? how can i get a deserter buff for being kicked…
edit: also lol wow, my char still hasnt updated.
Because it is to avoid those from who hate lets say, doing those instants trying to bypass the deserter buff.
When LFD first came out, people (mostly tanks and healers since they had fast/instant queues) would force groups to kick them if they got a dungeon they didn’t want to run. To combat that, they added the debuff to people that get kicked along with those that leave early.
they really should add an exception to the deserter buff for island expeditions… it’s far to easy to get someone kicked in them, and it’s become more of a trolling tool than anything in there…
in normal dungeons you have to have 2 others agree to your vote kick making it actually a majority system… but in island expeditions, you just need 1 person to agree… it may not sound like a big difference, but it actually makes all the difference in the world…
normally, if someone just tries to kick someone because they felt like it, the vote will fail and they might get person who agreed just to close the popup and didn’t actually read it. in an island expedition, you’re pretty much guaranteed to kick someone if you initiate a vote, and if the vote fails, you can almost guarantee that you yourself will be kicked if you try again.
what… man that sucks…now any time you get kicked by a jerk you can’t do anything, you just get deserter? Thats so not fair. An expedition kick gets you blocked from queueing for everything else? Where’s the logic…
I totally agree, that sucks. Makes me not even want to do islands…
Amusingly we just kicked a mage from the island because he/she was afk the entire time. Literally had the AFK flag up. Why should 2 people carry someone who does not even attempt to participate ?
Okay, that sucks and that mage deserves to be kicked but, clearly i was not afk and i got deserter for nothing. Just cause someone in your expedition was afk, doesn’t mean you have to keep them in but people like myself who are wrongly kicked don’t deserve to get deserter for it.
At this point, since just one person has to agree in an expedition, they could just kick anyone they want to. What if they want a priest and i join? I’m a mage, so what? They’re going to kick me and requeue to get a priest or other healer, but i get punished for that? How is that fair?
A solution… for the island expedition exception to the deserter debuff… only give the debuff if the person kicked was flagged as AFK.
yeah idk the nature of the beast. the logic of why you got deserter was explained above, unfortunately there’s no perfect solution.
if you can get your gear a little higher, you can prob rest a little easier. that ilvl 140 trinket is rough
That’ll only stop those that go AFK unintentionally (eg. kids, burning dinner, etc). Those that just want to mooch will just autorun into a wall.
theres no logic there though. What was explained is unreasonable and gives too much collateral damage.
I take it you never waited an hour to get into an Oculus run where the tank just /danced until you kicked them, had to wait another 30-60 minutes to get a replacement tank, and repeated that ad nauseum until you got lucky enough to get a tank that would do it.
So let me get this straight: because you had a couple bad experiences with tanks in a specific instance, that means that you shall now grant the power to an individual in an expedition to kick you from the group and give anyone…anyone… a 30 minute timeout from participating in any queue content…and…that’s reasonable?
If it was just me it would’ve been unfortunate but not a real problem. The issue was that it wasn’t just a few isolated instances of that happening. I picked Oculus for my example because it was the most hated max-level instance at the time.
I’m not arguing that the system couldn’t be improved. My point is that there is a reason behind people that get kicked getting deserter. It’s not the best thing ever but it is the lesser of two evils.
I would argue that it is, in fact, not the lesser of two evils. I mean, seriously? Cause of a few trolls randomly targeting/punishing groups, now other innocent players can just get randomly punished/targeted? You can’t possibly say this is reasonable.
Innocents are going to get punished either way. If you make getting kicked too meaningless, bad players will take that as a license to ruin the groups they get into. If you make it too bad, then innocent players that do get kicked will suffer unnecessarily.
Now, let me pose this to you: Do you think it’s more likely to be put into a group with one bad player or with multiple bad players?
You have a very curious idea of what I would consider reasonable considering I’ve openly stated I think there’s reason behind how things are.
Understand this: It doesn’t take multiple bad players to kick you from an expedition. It takes one.
Yeah, i guess i would think you’d have a slightly less atrophied reason “muscle” but, i guess you can’t give everyone the benefit of the doubt. My mistake.
