Khaz'gorite-Infused Resin (Fishing Crafting) won't drop?

I’m at Renown 25 with Iskaara Tuskarr and have done all the other upgrades. For some reason I have never looted a single Khaz’gorite-Infused Resin from a rare lunker. Wowhead says that they should drop from the first kill of the day or week. There’s no way that can be right.

Any advice?

I got one today doing the lunker daily quest at the fishing spot in Thaldraszus. Have you caught a lunker as part of a quest or have they all been “open” ones? Maybe that’s what’s required?

Edit: I may have solved the problem. You have to be actively harpooning the mob when it dies. This is not mentioned in any tooltip or instruction.

I don’t think this is true. I just tried this and had a harpoon on a rare elite when it died, and there was no resin in the loot drop.
