What ilvl should I be aiming for to get into +15 keys?
+15s aren’t about ilvl. The only thing that’s going to get you into a 15 key is either a friend/guildie with a key or some high IO with a bunch of +14s timed.

Make sure you have raiderio, its an addon that lets you see what other people have timed and vice versa, and then just push your own key or your friends to that level.
being a 210+ geared meta spec with io above 1k+ for pugs. or having friends that will carry you, or paying gold
If you find a steady M+ group you can do it in the 205 range with skill.
If you are trying to pug it, it’s just going to suck right now until more people get geared.
Sure around 215 in pugs minimum to start.
If you want to pug some, but not all 14s, around 210.
These numbers are true, unless you are the lowest DPS and are getting carried.
Don’t listen to this. If you do about 200 dungeons to practice and learn them (200 timed, untimed, and failed). You will need around 215 ilvl to have a decent chance at timing all 15s in a no voice chat pug.
So the druid above me has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about.
People will only look at your item level in 15s if someone has the exact same io score and the exact same spec. Item level would be like 3rd tie breaker, unless the person making the decision is an idiot.
He isn’t asking what io does he need. He is asking what ilvl gear does he needs to pug key master assuming he is skilled.
Based on my experience, pugging 14s, I’d say minimum of 215. Because I’ve timed mists 14 with DPS around 210, but failed to time DoS 14 this week with similarly geared DPS. All of these players are high io players that pug.
Based on this, I’d say around 215 to have a decent chance at timing all 15s including oppressive dungeons like NW15, in a no voice pug.
And I’m saying that his item level, and really even his skill level, will not really directly affect his ability to complete the task. That’s why it’s a useless response to give him a number. He isn’t asking the right question. Experience is what he needs. Experience is measured by io. Experience is the only thing he needs.
He needs both, but assuming he is skilled, to pug key master you need roughly 215 ilvl gear to not hate yourself too much.
He asked a simple question. I have pug experience around that level, so I gave a simple answer.
If you can’t do x amount of DPS on the statues on the last boss of tyrannical DoS, you ain’t killing the boss in one phase. You need to kill it in one phase to make the timer. If you lusted on 3rd boss, like ppl currently do. You probably need everyone in 215 gear to finish that boss in time.
I’ve tried DoS14 twice this week. Both times the healer and I killed our mob, but we didn’t click the thing and have the cast go through in time.
Also both times 1xDPS missed the time to kill the add as well. This is around 210 ilvl.
I don’t think saying minimum 215 for 15s is an exaggeration for most pug groups.
Even at that level of gear and a high io, pugs won’t be easy. You’ll still have to grind it out.
