So, having grabbed my KSM achievement, I had heard that I wouldn’t be able to use valor to upgrade gear on my alts, but now that I know for certain; why not? This was a feature of KSM in Season 1 (once 9.0.5 dropped with Valor).
Why remove it? I honestly feel less enthused to continue playing this patch if I feel like I have to earn the same achievement multiple times. I am not about to quit the game or anything over it, but I feel like I am being actively discouraged from continuing to play the game.
TL;DR: Please make KSM Account-Wide, and let us upgrade gear on alts for our mains M+ rating.
It was an unexpected change for me as well! I really liked using valor to upgrade alts last season. They felt like alts–my main the true focus that gave em a boost.
But it’s not so bad. The 1k rating is easy to get. Now you just need to play a little bit to start upgrading. You need to get the valor anyway.
They probably removed it from being account wide due to their Mythic+ Rating System. That system could take item level into account. Though, honestly, I doubt it would have a lasting long term effect if alts could use valor.
Looking it rationally, being a gladiator or mythic raider doesn’t allow your alts to gear easier (besides the inherent skill and connections at least), so it makes sense for KSM to work similarly.
That being said, nobody actually knows why Blizzard did this because they tried to slip it through and haven’t elaborated on it, which is pretty scummy IMO.
I don’t actually mind the change that much, but that it wasn’t communicated. You can’t tell me they made this change last-minute and were unable to let players know in advance.
This is probably my biggest complaint in general with Blizzard - their communication is terrible.
Those people don’t get slowed down by anything typically. I mean the ones in the next tier down where if Feral Druid was super meta you would see so many cats during that time knowing 70% of them never played that spec once in their life previously.
