Keyring when?

The keyring was added in patch 1.11, but seems to be entirely missing from Classic.

Why?

Some are saying it’ll be in phase 2 but if it was added in 1.11, we might not see it until phase 5 (AQ) or something.

Kind of makes a mockery of the claim that this version of vanilla is valid if the alleged 1.12 doesn’t contain content that was added in 1.11, doesn’t it?

It’s a frankenstein patch. They removed a bunch of things that could affect progression in some ways. Going all the way and doing every single balence changes would have been overboard (I mean, I wanted vanilla this year, not in 4 years) so they pick some features here and there such as the honor system, BGs, Dire Mauls and the key ring which forces you to reserve a couple of bag slots for your keys.

It’s not really 1.12, but a hybrid patch. It’s a mishmash really. They say they use 1.12 as a reference, but it’s just a reference.

Lots of things from 1.12 aren’t in classic, as they shouldn’t be. Gear added in patches from 1.3 to 1.12 won’t be in the game till later phases, same with the key ring. Doesn’t make a mockery of anything. It’s just how it was, and how it is.

That’s funny I was just thinking of my keyring last night.

There are a lot of things that are different from actual Classic.

Part of me thinks the key ring delay is due to software. Original client was programmed in C and the main bag had some seriously tight code, but difficult to change. I think it had to do with pointers and that messing with the bag code could break the whole game. I’m sure I’m screwing this up, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the key ring was done in some way similar and it’s taking a lot more resources to untangle it. Since they didn’t want to delay Classic for a keyring, they just push it off for a future update.

Key ring will be added in first patch:

But the key ring is a UI element, it is not gear or anything. Why is it excluded?
