what are u using right now? and what are ur must have kb features?
personally i gotta have a wired full size membrane kb (cant stand mechs) and it has to have dedicated volume keys and play/pause multimedia key, none of that asinine fn key garbage.
also really like kb’s that have countoured 1st row key shapes if u know what i mean, like the space bar is kinda rounded n curved instead of having dat sharp edge to it u kno?
rgb lighting is good too and tho i can live without it
super frustrating to find something i like actually, i think my preferences must not be too common cause hardly any kbs out there tick all the boxes
agreed, I’m type hard (press down hard) so mech keyboards hurt my fingers after typing/playing for a few minutes. I also hate the knobs for multimedia, prefer buttons.
right now I have the Razer - Ornata V3 mecha-membrane
I also have the Ornata V2 which has the plush wrist rest (so nice) same as razer huntsman KB. The V3 went with a plastic wrist rest that’s OK but the V2 has the multimedia wheel that I could deal with but prefer the button style in my current V3. Plus the RGB stopped working in my V2 so that would definitely impact my DPS as rogue so I had to get the V3 (at least that’s how I justified it to myself).
I also have a strong preference for a good membrane keyboard. I like to be able to actually rest my fingers on the keys without accidentally pressing the key, and membrane keyboards tend to have more resistance to the initial keypress. I also prefer a good wrist-rest, so that my wrist doesn’t have to be kinked at a bad angle while using the keyboard.
But beyond that, I still like to try out a keyboard before I buy it. Every keyboard is different.
I have a Cooler Master keyboard with Brown switches, that’s about all the functionality I need. Now my mouse is where the magic happens, it’s a Logitech MX Master 3s, and the MX Master series of peripherals from Logitech are the most comfortable ergonomic pieces of tech I’ve ever had the pleasure of holding in my hands. It’s that life changing, you’ll never go back to a normal mouse.
Keychron C2 Pro with Gateron Red Pros, some CSA profile caps
After going through 60%, 80%, even 96%, i end up going back to full size due to the physical definition of the rows and full size numpad since I do a lot of data entry when I’m not playing games.
Red because they take less actuation force and are quieter.
Mouse - I use a Logitech G Pro x Superlight in red.
It’s what I’ve been using for about 5 months. Got it renewed (can’t really mess up a membrane KB). Works well. I wouldn’t go back to a mechanical, TBH.
I use the HyperX Core Alloy RGB keyboard. Might be a little light on features for you. I typically catch them on sale for $20, but I found a couple of clearance for $7 at Target once and grabbed extra.
I share your disdain for mechanical keyboards. They’re all hype, expensive, and absurdly noisy.
I find a lot of the problems with them are the mainstream mass market keyboards you find in big box stores.
For example, I have a Logitech G610 that I use for work. It allegedly uses red switches but they are incredibly scratchy, difficult to actuate, and loud, compared to both my generic amazon Royal Kludge or more widely known Keychron keyboards with gateron reds.
Keep in mind that Gateron Reds are known to be of lower quality than standard cherry mx red switches, so I do not know what the heck logitech uses in their keyboards.
I’ve found similar experiences with corsair and razer. They are very very expensive, have invasive software, and actually seem worse quality than the budget stuff you can get online.
tht ornata v3 i ordered came in a couple days ago n am liking it well enough to keep it. good qulality n keys have about the rite feel to them. gonna be a trash magnet with teh elevated keys but itll be alright
