Keyboard turning speed upon initial log in

Upon initial log in after starting the game, if you utilize the keyboard (defaulted to “A and D” keys) to turn your character, it is extremely extremely sluggish. If you log out, and then log back in, the Turning speed is back to what it should be.

The TR-06 Pummeler on Siren Isle has a reduced turn speed of 60 (6 seconds to complete a circle) when you are casting Many Bullets, after which it will set your turn speed to 120 (3 seconds to complete a circle). The default is 180 (2 seconds to complete a circle). It is possible for the turn speed to get stuck on 60 after using the Many Bullets cast of the Pummeler. Exiting the pummeler will seem like it returns the turn speed to default, but dumping the TurnSpeed CVar shows that it is still set to 60.
/dump C_CVar.GetCVar("TurnSpeed")

I didn’t try real hard to replicate relogging having it set to 60, but one of my relogs did stick the TurnSpeed CVar at 120 so I’m sure its possible for it to stick on 60 as well.

Regardless, the easy fix for this should be simply resetting the CVar to 180.
/console TurnSpeed 180
or
/run C_CVar.SetCVar("TurnSpeed",180)

Funny thing, it’s also possible, though impractical, to bypass the turnspeed reduction of many bullets by setting the turnspeed midcast

While I appreciate you logging another bug with the TR-06 Pummeler.

My finding is upon initial login after starting the game. Not interfacing with anything, just logging into the world your turn speed will be sluggish. The only way I know of to fix it is to log out, and log back in. It is then fixed for the rest of the time the game is open.

So you’ve never used the pummeler?

If the bugged code is affecting every single character across my entire account, then this is a major major bug.

Upon initial start of the game, I can log into any character, including characters that have never been to the Isle nor interfaced with the pumeller, and my turn speed will be greatly reduced until I log out and log back in.

The TurnSpeed CVar is account wide in scope.

Then most indeed, this bug needs to be addressed and fixed. I shouldn’t have to either relog everytime I log in, or utilize a command script to fix it.

Blizzard has a track record for letting rather minor bugs like these go unfixed forever. If you manually set the CVar, does it still set to 60 when you fresh log in?

I would state that anything that affects my characters, especially when its account wide, is nothing minor.

however, it does appear after testing real quick that utilizing the unknown until told command script fixed my initial login problem. However, it will most likely reappear every single time I interface with the Pummeler. Which indeed, needs to be fixed.

Anything affecting a character, is not a minor problem.

Your definition and a company’s definition of what constitutes a major bug probably won’t intersect very frequently.

Well I’m glad that you believe that bugs that affect our characters are okay to remain forever. Thank you for your help.

It is still a bug that needs fixing. As I would surmise that a majority of players would agree, that if a bug affects their characters it is not a minor issue.

The thank you seems kind of disingenuous when you try and knife me first for a stance I don’t hold.

Sure. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it though.

I have experienced the same bug today. Keyboard turning was terrible, but after logging out and back in, it’s back to normal. I did use the pummeler yesterday on a character, so that may be related, though I’ve only experienced the issue today.

EDIT: Using the /console TurnSpeed 180 command seems to fix it, even after exiting the game and logging back in. Come to think of it, I didn’t exit the game even after using the pummeler, so maybe that’s why I’ve only encountered the bug today. Although there’s a workaround, it should definitely be fixed.

I just started experiencing the issue after updating to Windows 22H2. I was not experiencing it at all prior to today.

Edit: After testing further, it seems directly related to the “TR-06 Pummeler” equipment on Siren Isle, during the storm phase.
It often disconnects you while using it, and doesn’t appear to reset the TurnSpeed value properly when you’re done using the equipment, even if you then log onto other characters that have never visited Siren Isle, the TurnSpeed value remains bugged.

The issue has been proven to be tied to using the mechsuit during the storm phase of Siren Isle, specifically manifesting on your next login if you don’t fix the cvar before you log out of the session you used it in. Sounds like this is what happened prior to you deciding to update Windows.

I have had the same problem for the last couple of weeks. When I first log on the turn speed is really slow. Can log out and log back in and it works fine. I did go to Siren Isle today but did not use the TR-06 Pummeler.
