Tried using a mechanical keyboard w/o the numpad, but the constant clicking drives me nuts. Looking to keep it compact. Currently using this. Biggest complaint is the small F keys. My sausage fingers have trouble hitting them consistently.
Each serious reply is 1 hour I wont post on the forums.
UPDATE: Bought this one - Had to flip some keys upside down because they just didn’t feel good upright (F1-F4, Spacebar, Bottom Left Crtl, Alt, and Windows Keys). Looks funky but feels so much better now. Something about the slant of these keys is off. Those were the ones bugging me the most. Might swap every key upside down and see if I like it better that way when I have the time…

I would also like suggestions
Every mechanical keyboard has “switches,” which is what is being pressed in when you push a key, and based on what type of switch you picked (that comes with the keyboard) will have a different sound and resistance behind it. You can pull out and change these switches if you want to keep the same keyboard.
For instance, cherry mx red or brown switches offer less resistance and are quieter then other types. I would advise picking one of those two next time.
Alternatively you can do this:
honestly, if you wanted something compact with the Function row like that, I’d suggest a 75% keyboard or maybe something like the Keycool 84? I know it was popular for a while with WoW players - Comes with either Cherry Red or Brown switches.
There are also the Epomaker EP84/Keychron K2 as well for budget options
I could talk for hours upon hours about this topic as it’s my passion but I’ll spare y’all that
Appreciate the response. I’ll look into those. Your opinion is heavily weighted as trustworthy because you’re a gnome
I have been using a trackpad, it’s almost silent!
Just put the digital keyboard on the screen if you need to type in game chat.
The wife uses a razor keyboard that I can hear from the other end of the house and it sounds like she’s sending a telegraph in ww2. I don’t know how these loud things became so popular.

I use the razer huntsman mini with linear optical switches. It’s quiet and responsive and has a small profile.
i swapped from a razer full sized to a ducky mecha mini 60% it took some getting used too but i have a lot more room on my desk
Did you lose your F keys?
yeah but i never used them tbh they were to high up to be practical but i can use a modifier key for 1-10 for f keys
I actually like ‘clicky’ keyboards, they help keep me in rhythm.
