Keyboard and mouse trouble

You can go watch Linus’s video called " Are Wireless Gaming Mice ACTUALLY Faster??". It’s on youtube. With 2.8m views and 91k likes.

Input lag no longer effects gameplay and is not noticeable to the human brain.

I agree that it’s one of the main reasons why people choose wired mice, but it’s not correct anymore.

And you only get 50mb/s on your wifi? LOL. I get the same wired and wireless…

Gonna go ahead and /ignore you now since you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.

It could even be Mom using the Microwave causing interference causing the drop…

Interference

Wireless mice can also experience interference from local interfaces. This type of interference can make your movements in the game seem choppy. However, interference will not be a huge deal if the user doesn’t have any devices close to where they’re gaming.

Wireless is awful for gaming.

The issue here is the cordless aspect. Cordless peripherals will have this where it could be caused by any number of things including traffic, something in the line / impeding the signal from your tower to your devices, etc. For gaming, and almost all use, I would always recommend you use wired items. The only exception to this is a headset, which should never really be that problematic.

Edit: If you wish to stick with wired, you can, but I would advise you ensure nothing’s in the path, and I would ensure your dongles (the USBs in your towers) are still alright. Pull 'em out. reinsert them. Check your USB ports. Etc. Basic trouble shooting.

I’ll admit I use a wired mouse but that’s because I play on a laptop and between headset, power and mic I didn’t want to deal with another cord. Besides, it’s less than 10cm from mouse to receiver so if there’s lag I’m not seeing it.

Something else I was thinking about was interference from other wireless devices - Back when I was in school the housing management division had to ban personal wifi because it was affecting the school-provided hotspots.

A wireless keyboard and mouse is a solution to a problem that never existed, I used to be the type that had to have EVERY gadget that is tech related and EVERYTHING as wireless as possible. Until I got older and realized wireless does not always = better. Unless you lay in bed with your keyboard and mouse and move them often then wired should work the same as long as your keyboard and mouse are always at your gaming desk, unless the cord on a mouse actually bothered you when you had one.

Now days my keyboard, mouse and internet, are all plugged in. One last thing, if your ISP offers a speed of 100,000 megs per second, don’t fall off your chair as you rush to order it, ISPs don’t decide how fast your gaming connection is, servers do, but if they ever offer a ping of 0, then its ok to fall out of your chair.

I’ve always been wired everything. Viper Ultimate is my first wireless mouse and it’s performance really is amazing. There’s literally no detectable input lag, and anyone who says otherwise is straight up lying.

Is it in Torghast? if so, I have corded KB and mouse and am having that same problem…but so far ONLY in Torghast.

I dont like batteries going dead lol.
my mother made me hate wireless without my ever trying one. She is always complaining about the batteries going dead at the worst possible moment, lol.
Nuff said. I like my cords.

Tried a wireless mouse.

Never again when playing games.

Yea it can be annoying, but I got myself a 4 pack of amazon basic rechargable batteries and in my G602 they last like 6 weeks in performance mode, and you get a warning with 20% juice left, which is like days notice, to change them out.

The best ones, like the G702 I used to have before it broke and went haywire, have both wired and wireless modes, so if it gets low you can just plug the cord in and use it and charge at the same time.

I admittedly use my mouse as a remote to watch stuff at night, like TV shows, movies etc, so mine serves dual purposes.

I love how they direct you to that one special server for their speed tests, lol. It always manages to be blowing at top speed for some reason…but if I use third party speed tests theyre running at 70% a lot of times. Not really noticeable on my end, but yeah…one server along the pathway acting poorly and the whole speed thing is right out the window.

good idea to have some extra batteries around.
I end up replacing my mouse and KB every so often, working or not, after the last time where the left mouse button chumped out on me in the middle of big job I was doing and I didnt have a backup.
now we keep a backup and just replace the things every 10 months or so…sooner if Im being overly aggressive with it, lol

That’s funny you say that. The g602 has a notorious issue with the middle scroll wheel click not working and I’ve had like 5 new ones in the last 3 years because Logitech keeps replacing them under warranty lol.

Eventually I’ll have to move on though.

yeah, I got to have that working, lol, thats my auto run button.
I hate holding two buttons for really long treks.

I guess I am lucky to live close to where I “think” Blizz servers actually are, but I never looked into it too deeply.

Virtually the entire forum said the same thing, I don’t care about some video… I am a Gamer, I have had wireless lag causing me to get killed, I stopped using them.

Have a nice day!

Shows how misinformed people are about this issue. It’s hard to change a perception like this, but people who pay attention to advances in tech know what they know. And you know what you know.

Rtings has an article outlining how they tested for click latency on like 20 different mice, both wired and wireless, and a lot of times the wireless mouse came out on top or tied. It’s called “Our Click Latency Tests and Scores”. Go look it up. There’s a nice easy graph to look at too.

You’re literally spreading misinformation. You working for the Trump campaign? You want another recount in Georgia too?

That test also must take into consideration bandwidth, a person with a 132 ms latency to WoW, will have much more input lag with a wireless then a corded mouse.

Lets agree to disagree.

Nope, if anything that high latency (and 132 ms is atrocious, I get 39ish and that’s not even good), will HIDE the latency that you get on a wired mouse with 6ms latency or a wireless mouse with 6ms latency. And they are more or less the exact same thing. Traveling through a cord still generates latency. Same way as your subs in your car might sound a bit delayed with their bass response as you ran your wires from the battery to the trunk compared to your front speakers.

The only caveat to this is if you get a random Amazon wireless mouse, yea it’s prob going to have bad latency. But anything name brand, Corsair, Logitech, Razr, Steel Series, even probably Red Dragon should all be in line with the same or better than wired mice.

It’ll be 2021 soon, lets not assume things will stay the same forever.

Also as to your point on bandwidth, this again demonstrates you don’t know what you’re talking about because they are measuring latency on MOUSE CLICKS, not mouse clicks in WoW, or in Fortnite, or whatever. They measure it based on the computer registering the action after you press the mouse button. These are not game benchmarks. They have their methodology in the article.

Unfollowing thread now. Good luck.
