Keybinds for rogues

I have been playing my rogue a bit lately and use 1-5 for combo point generators and E and R for finishers. Now we have SnD, so I put that on T. It’s really messing me up and I have to relearn my muscle memory.

I use 1 for stealth, 2 for my main generator, and then 3-5 for symbols, shadowdance, and shadowblade. Then E R T for evisc, rupture, and slice.

The problem is that I use other, different binds for assassin and combat.

Anyone out there have any effective keybind guides to hit the stuff that I need to hit when I need to hit it? I have a decent amount of options for keybinds, but I’m just trying to play with how to do my rotation optimally and have access to my utility. I’d like to hear some of your guys thoughts on this.

Are you using shift control and alt modifiers?

Like for me
S is backstab
Shift s is kick
Control s is focus kick
Alt s is cloak of shadows.

All my arena 123 binds are on z x c.
All defensive are on v
Q and shift q are kidney and focus kidney
R is mobility
F is evis
Shift f is rupture
Ctrl f is dance.

You can also use modifiers on space bar. My slice and dice is shift space bar.

These are good ideas. I use mostly shift for the letter keys that I can reach and a couple of ctrl. I will make some more with other modifiers and try that out.

Good luck man.

I have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, G, F, T, R, V

and then Shift +1, Shift+2 etc etc etc.

Works well and barely have to move my hand.

You can get a 12-button gaming mouse for like $30, which I highly recommend. It just makes stuff a lot easier without having to use modifiers, since I tend to fat-finger as it is. Takes a little getting used to, but I enjoy gameplay much better with it.

You can also put symbols, shadowdance, and shadowblade into a macro that will pop anything thats off CD. Its worked for me so far to help me learn, although I know the more experienced players keep a separate Shadowdance-only button up as well. If you use bartender4, I would keep all 3 on a small bar near your macro button so you can track their CDs.

Macro:
#showtooltip
/cast [stance:0] Shadow Dance
/cast Symbols of Death
/cast Shadow Blades
/cast Shadowstrike

A fun opener from stealth rn in PvP is:

Cold Blood > Cheap Shot > Pop that macro > Evis > MfD > Evis > Reaping Flames + Trinket if you have it

You don’t want to use MFD during dance due to how much dance generates combo points.

You either want to MFD kidney -> dance macro shadowstrike TIL 4-5 cp then evis.

Or

shadow strike > cheap shot >shadow strike > evis > shadow strike to 4-5 cp > cheap shot > evis > mfd > evis.

You want to cheap shot as you get to the end of your cp so that fat evis gets juicy with the prey on the weak modifier.

You’d have to be running subterfuge for this though right?

Good tips though!

You should be running subterfuge for anything pvp related and even just world questing.

The main way to do damage in open world as sub is to get as many eviscerates inside stuns due to the prey on the weak talent.

Use more modifiers? I’m not seeing a lot of stuff you have with an alt modifier. Use tilde? It’s right by the 1, so it’s easy to hit. I find alt+movement keys to also be an easy to hit keybind.

I’m outlaw, but here’s what I do:

1 - sinister strike
2 - pistol shot
3 - SnD
4 - dispatch
5 - healthstone
` - cloak of shadows
F - kick
R - roll the bones
Z - blind
X - AoE combat potion

ALT+1 - blade flurry
ALT+2 - between the eyes
ALT+3 - gouge
ALT+4 - kidney shot
ALT+` - vanish
ALT+Q - other combat potion
ALT+W - ghostly strike (when talented)
ALT+E - tricks of the trade

SHIFT+1 - adrenaline rush
SHIFT+2 - blade rush
SHIFT+3 - feint
SHIFT+4 - evasion
SHIFT+5 - crimson vial
SHIFT+R - sprint

Mouse 1 - grappling hook
Mouse 2 - distract

I click to stealth myself, like a scrub.

Just looking over your buttons makes my hand cramp.

Idk how people reach that far and move comfortably.

Yeah, it can get a bit achey after awhile. I feel the same way you do about people using 6 and onward, or SHIFT+B, or any other thing I’ve seen people use that literally force you to move your hands completely away from the movement keys.

Everything I hit, I can hit with my most of my fingers near my movement/reaction keys.

I have been told I have the weirdest setup.

The only movement I have on keyboard is a and d are my strafe keys.

Everything else is with my mouse buttons.

my opinion. any reason why your combo generators have to be so distanced from your finishers? I know its personal preference, but I would put buttons you press all the time on 1 to 6, which would be generators and finishers (in both ST and AOE). The rest of the customizable buttons or ones with alt/shift modifiers can be used on CDs, Utility, consumables, etc.
