I have scoured the internet and am admittedly frustrated. I have a warrior that I would like to play prot and fury on. I would like different keybindings for each spec. e.g. if I map action bar 2 button 1 to keybinding “x” on prot, I want it only on prot. When I switch to fury, if I change that same action bar button to “y” it overrides the prot spec - so I’m left with one keybind option per action button regardless of spec. I have tried using different layouts (e.g. tank and dps) - no go. I have tried using different action bars-e.g. using action bar 2 only on prot, and using an entirely different action bar for fury-they still override each other. I have played with the “use shared action buttons” options-both on, both off, one on, one off-nothing. I have reset my ENTIRE account keybindings to default. I have made new builds throughout playing with these options in all manner of combinations. Nothing. I’ve tried mods-they don’t work. This is preventing me from playing more than one spec per character (which I love dual spec chars) and therefore significantly reducing my desire to play the game. How is this not figured out yet, or am I doing something wrong?
I don’t think there is a way to have two separate keybind profiles. Is there a reason you have to use X on prot but Y on fury? If X on prot is say shield wall (a defensive CD) can you not use X on fury for a different defensive CD?
I have the same keybinds on all classes and specs, I just move the spells around.
1 is interrupt for all specs and classes
Shift+1 is cc
2 is finisher/spender
S+2 is secondary/aoe finisher/spender
3 is filler/rotation buff (slice n dice or something)
S+3 secondary/aoe filler
4 is combo/builder
S+4 is aoe builder
Q is offensive cd
G is defensive cd
T is taunt or dispell
Etc, etc.
I use the same logic for each spec, all I have to do is match that specs int/builder/spender/CD to the same slot on my bars and I’m ready to go.
This way the muscle memory is already there and I can swap between specs and classes easier.
I can play with completely different keybinds for a new class, but it’s unnecessary. If I make Q my offensive CD for rogue but then make G my offensive CD for mage, I could do it, but I’m just making things harder in the long run.
