Keybind Profile add-on for classic?

I play on both a desktop and laptop. The desktop has an ergonomic keyboard and I use different keybinds to make it easier to type, etc. In retail there’s the “binder” add-on that can save a profile on my desktop and a separate one on the laptop so I don’t have to re-bind every time. Is there anything similar for classic?

Idk why you would bind your keys differently from device to device, but you can do this manually. No need for an addon.

You might use alt-keys that are located in different places on different devices.

bindings are per account or per character and are synced to the server. They are not per device.

Not sure I understand why you made this comment.

because you claimed you didn’t need an addon for it. It doesn’t work the way he wants without one.

OP is saying he uses different binds on his different devices. His keys are bound differently and he doesn’t want to rebind his keys to his preferred layout for the device every time he uses a seperate device.

My comment was to the effect that I did not understand why he bound his keys differently on different devices. Seems easier to find a pattern that works on both devices.

That being said while it’s true that keybinds are saved server-side, you still have a “keybinds-cache” file in your WTF folder under the character’s name. Just save that file on your desktop and replace it every time you switch devices.

Take your laptop & throw it in the garbage. Problem solved. Nobody plays on laptops.

lol… My MSI gaming laptop laughs in your general direction

My 3090 laughs at your effort. You get a participation trophy at best.

yeah you spent as much on a video card as I did an entire laptop and I sit here at 100fps with all settings maxed. Who’s dumb now?

I found the keybind backup file which is stored locally. Is there a console command or another way to get WoW to use the local backup file vs. server settings?

It sounds to me like you are looking for the “Clique” addon. It would do exactly what you want.

Plug in a USB keyboard of the same layout. Problem = solved.

Cheap USB keyboards are like 9 bucks USD, and 10X better than any laptop keyboard. I use a USB keyboard on my laptop for this exact reason, and would never play on a lap top keyboard because the layout as you noticed is not all that great, and the button’s are kinda sucky compared to a real keyboard, even a cheap real keyboard is better than what a laptop offers.

I found a way to use the local keybindings so it no longer syncs between laptop and desktop. Added this to the config.wtf:
SET synchronizeBindings “0”
