Keybind and targeting question

I have always used vuhdo so have only used mouseover heals. I am trying to learn how to use targeted heals for arena.

I created macros that will cast instantly on the party member or enemy member with a modifier. I am wondering though if it would be better to just worry about targeting and then casting. It would take a lot less keybinds!

I was watching a video and their target moved constanty with their spell, my macros would not make the person my target but just cast the spell.

So I guess that is a long way of asking- should I instead just hit the target button of the person I want and then cast the spell instead of modifiers on spells as macros?

I think the general preference is party12/self as having their own keybinds.

Like mouse wheel up /target party1
Mouse wheel down /target party2
Mouse button /target self.

Also dispels for party12 are good as their own bind.

Like shift mwup and down

There’s some really good healers around here who can offer better advice.

Could you clarify this for me?
For example, they would have flash heal say as 1 to cast on self. Then to cast on party one they have it set to cast with wheel up +1? Does Wheel up and down work as a mod for key binds like that?

Sorry if I wasn’t clear.

The keybinds are only for specific targeting, not abilities.

So mousewheel up targets party1, then you press 1 or 2 or whatever for shield, flash heal, etc.

The idea being that it’s less keybinds than making every spell have a 123 macro, and easy to just target without clicking then cast.

You can bind targeting in the base ui key binding.

So you enter match, want to cast renew or whatever on party1, you would just scroll up (/target party1) and press renew.
