Key Leaving. When is it acceptable?

For me personally if enough people are generally clueless about mechanics and it leads to foolish wipes and an overtimed key im out of there.

Recently left a key as a healer on the last boss of ruby life pools m+ because they just were running through the lava puddles crying about heals.

Thoughts?

Isn’t there a hundred or so other threads about this?

Usually 1 wipe

I never leave a key first. I don’t care how bad it’s going. We’re gonna get through this dungeon. And if someone leaves, and it can’t be 4 manned - then, yeah, I’ll duck out.

If somebody leaves then they leave and that’s it.

IMO it’s not acceptable.

M0 or below? It’s fine to leave, but M+ you basically ruin their key by leaving unless the dungeon can be completed by 4 people, which is only really doable if folks overgear the dungeon in question.

But chances are though when you leave others will too, and that means the person who’s key it was gets no chance at loot whatsoever. So yeah, no, leaving is not acceptable in M+, period.

I wanna blow up the forums.

Key leaving should delete your key and ban you from doing mythics until next reset.

You left em on the last boss? Grow thicker skin?

I hate these threads more than anything. Where’s the chemo?

That’s up to each individual tbh. Everyone has their lines and limits.

The only dungeon I’ve left at this point was a +2 HoV I was tanking that was 20 minutes over time without a chance in hell of ever killing the final boss as I was the only one interrupting anything at all. Players started getting mad at each other, and I’d had enough.

Further context, we were at 20+ deaths, too. The only thing I got outa that dungeon was a fat repair bill. >:|

While it’s frustrating watching people die to silly stuff, I don’t mind sticking it out and clearing it over the time limit (within reason). Only when it becomes apparent that it won’t be cleared at all will I bail.

Can absolutely see that happening in Ruby pools.

Had 10 deaths before first boss, and someone died in the following combat that I was waiting for to end so I could hearth. So yeah, 10+ deaths before first boss I’m out. I’m not even ruining their key at that point anyway, because it’s not getting timed regardless.

i can understand leaving if you are wipeing a lot and no one listens when you try to tell them about the mechanics you need to do

but if its just one wipe, you dont speak and just leave, why join in the first place?

why dont u just say first before you start and join a key “hey guys if we die once im leaving”
see how fast they remove you from group

and to be frank, i think the only people that have this mindset of leaving after one wipe are the people that expect to get carried, so you are the problem.

OP,
Here is when you can leave keys:

  1. If any of the other people are abusive or toxic
  2. When it is clear that there is no way the group can finish the dungeon (spending 30-45 minutes without getting the first boss down for example)
  3. When you’ve finished the dungeon and collected your loot (or in my case, gold)

It’ll vary from person to person but I would basically say when someone determines it’s not worth it for them anymore. Then it’s okay to leave.

I kinda do think stopping a mythic run should be a vote and you get penalized if you leave or alt f4 out. Doubly so for those who do it frequently. Like the punsihment gets worse and resets at the start of the next season

Well, since you can’t replace people in keys, this doesn’t even make sense. Wish people would try to inform GD of things they actually know about. If you’ve never done something, why even answer ?

You can leave anytime, ask Blizz.

The only time I’ve left a key is when it’s my key and we’ve wiped three times on a boss with no hope of ever getting past it. If it’s with friends, I’m more inclined to stay and chat in Discord during this. But for randoms and if it’s my key, I don’t care if the level drops. If I’m not having fun, I’m done trying and I’ll put my key up again later.
