Keen to hear Kel’Thuzad with his original voice actor in WoW. It’ll be surreal, honestly.

End boss of SL’s 9.1 raid. Calling it here.

Reasonable assumption.

Dammit I didn’t want to believe that he’d been working for Arthas. This is going to be an even bigger Sylvanas redemption expansion than I’d worried.

Same. Have you heard his voicelines for Heroes of the Storm? They’re amazing and delightfully sassy. I’m glad that Blizzard is giving Michael McConnohie plenty to do this expansion (I assume he’s back for both Kel’Thuzad and Uther) since they presumably won’t be needing him for the Lich King anymore.

Can’t be, he’s frozen by the Staff of the Primus by Margrave Sin’Dane. We don’t know what happens after, but he’s very much frozen and doesn’t escape at the end of the scenario lol

edit: here’s a datamined in-game cinematic that shows the Primus statue ā€œwaking upā€ somewhat after we restore the staff (staff doesn’t have a name yet, but the other items are Bracers of Control, Pauldrons of Imperium, and Mantle of Eternal Victory)

I mean I don’t think he is. He could be just gathering power to find/recover/restore Arthas.

Yep. He’s a delight to play for half that reason.

Because no character has ever escaped captivity? Hell we release them a ton of times.

Yeah but atm he’s super trapped in a magical prison. And another Kel’thuzad raid? Really? Again? A third one?

All raids should be Kel’thuzad raids. He has minions that can break him out.

Nah b I’m tired.

Plus the Maldraxxus Covenant Campaign Achievement lists the scenario as The Third Fall Of Kel’thuzad, so I’m hoping that means we actually get to work with him in some capacity instead of a third raid.

Shadowlands literally is ā€˜ā€˜We can bring anyone back’’ land. You think they won’t make a raid with old bosses we already killed?

I certainly hope not, especially not someone we defeated twice already.

We fight Ragnaros 3 times: First in Classic then once in Mount Hyjal then finally in the Firelands!

We also fight Archimonde 3 times: Once in the Caverns of Time, once on Draenor and once we face a version of him in the Emerald Dream.

We also fight Sargeras 4 times: Once in the form of the Echo of Medivh in Return to Karazhan, once in the form of the Demon Within in Nighthold Mythic, once in the form of the Fallen Avatar and finally while he possessed Argus in Antorus Mythic! 3 of these Encounters were Raids!

Nah the Ragnaros fight in Hyjal was actually still within the Firelands. We enter one of the portals during the quest.

Nah the Dream version is a memory, not a real one iirc. Quest dialogue says as much.

He didn’t possess Argus, and the Avatar we fight doesn’t have Sargeras inside him either, the Echo of Medivh is exactly that, an echo, not Medivh possessed.

The only time we actually fight Sargeras in the list you gave was The Demon Within.

Not really. If it was in the firelands proper, he would’ve died instead of coming back for the firelands raid.

It is on the edge of the Firelands. Basically just in front of the front door.

I also wouldnt count the CoT version as ā€œcanonā€ either considering that the lore reason for why we go into the raid never happened (where was my infinite dragonflight!!!). So blizzard included the raid as part of the BT attunement chain, which you only had to kill the first boss anyway (in fact, World first Archimonde happened AFTER World First Illidan)

Part of me doubts the Demon Within was actually Sargeras. I don’t see Sargeras as the type of character to refer to himself in the third person. For example, The Demon Within yells: He will… yet claim… this titan…
It is clear that the ā€œHeā€ is Sargeras.

Even then, Gul’dan actually dies (his corpse disappears) when you enter that phase on mythic, yet Gul’dan clearly survives to be killed by Illidan in the cinematic.

The mythic phase for Gul’dan was just a nostalgia trip for demon phase Illidan back in BT.

Would they make him a raid boss out of spite to show how much better they can do now vs Nax. Classic? I could see them releasing both at the same time.

He didn’t die in the fight, he ran away, iirc.

Wait but the rest was canon doe, albeit yes all those time lines were undone technically

Same but it’s also weird to imply that Illidan’s soul had to be defeated to revive Illidan? Like… Illidan’s soul is a demon soul so the demon within would be Illidan? Unless when he turned demonic by consuming the skull of Guldan, MU Guldan soul was somehow inside Illidan? Idk man
