Kernel_Task 900% Unplayable

So upgraded Big Sur to 11.7.1 and all of a sudden when playing wow it’s making kernel_task use up to 900% of my cpu.

Specs:
2019 19 inch MacBook Pro
2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
Memory 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Graphics AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4 GB

Just sitting in Sinfall and fps is around 12

All graphic settings are set to low

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kernel_task is MacOS throttling your performance due to overheating.

Also There’s no such thing as a 19-inch MacBook Pro. Im assuming you mean 16?

This. the way apple codes throttling is it puts dummy cpu load on kernel task (it’s not actually using that much, it’s just sleeping the cpu cores to cool them while making them unavailable to other applications)

At least this is generally what KT is doing when it’s maxed out like that.
