He’s currently bugged. When you go downstairs to kill the phylactery is just isn’t there anymore (maybe invisible). And that ends up killing you.
Mythic N’Zoth has the same reported issue (upper/lower ‘floor’ bosses). Despite Player reports since patch day - no fix so far. Which is far more upsetting, as literally, the patch notes mentioned fixing/adjusting more legacy Raid scaling.
- Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands raid encounters have had mechanics adjusted so that they are possible to complete while solo or in a party.
But after the Alt Guildbank fiasco, don’t expect much/any communication, and certainly not a resolution, any time soon. If at all.
I’ll say it again - blizz, slow down. spend a month or two fixing these major issues. Fixing your RELATIONSHIP with players. You can’t buy/bribe that back once lost (18+year subscriber, I cancelled over the lack of Alt Guildbank restoration/empathy/compensation)
I experienced this the other day, the ONLY way I killed it was by using Halo and Holy Nova to damage the invisible mob
Fun fact which I haven’t seen mentioned about this. Once you go down to the phylactery phase, any adds which spawned upstairs as part of the intermission then also become invisible and untargetable. The only way to kill the banshees and prevent them from killing you is to hope any remaining AoE you have (if you can’t spam) is enough, or just be geared enough to make it not matter.
Oh it gets even better. I was doing this with a friend of mine and after he went inside and discovered the guy was invisible I died. Then I was resurrected by KT, fought until the 5 minute timer expired, and then I was alive again but unable to cast any spells or use items, I could only walk around and auto-attack using right click of my mouse.
My buddy eventually went through the same cycle but was able to use his Hearthstone. Afterwards I force quit the game, logged onto other characters, but when I went back to my Shaman he was still fighting Kel’Thuzard and I can’t get him out of the fight. Glad that toon isn’t one of my main because I might not be able to play him for a while.
UPDATE – So after posting this I decided to go back and check on my Shammy, fight is still going on but I could Reincarnate which I did and was actually able to control my character again…sadly I did not have the same success hearthing that my buddy did so once again my Shammy is trapped.
