Kel’Thuzad HM is the worst fight I have ever seen in WoW history. None of it makes sense. Its purely RNG. All major mechanics can happen at once. MC, Frost Tomb, Frostbolt Volley, Shadow Fissure.
MC’s do way too much damage, a melee basically one taps a healer. They also hilarious die very easily from 1 hit as well. There are now to many passive AOE skills in the game where sheeps and traps are broken constantly. By adding the enclosing circle you cant fear MC’s because as soon as the MC is done the person dies from the dot damage outside of the circle.
Whats also ridiculous is that tanks can be MC’d which drops KT threat completely. Even more so when the adds are alive.
Why does frostbolt volley hit people for their entire health? You can easily scale down the damage and it would be fine but to die from 1 hit without WB’s and Fort is stupid.
There was so many different ways to make this fight better but you did the opposite. That seems to be a recurring theme for SOD developers. The fight isnt fun or challenging it just basically hope you get good RNG like both tanks not being MC’d. Unreal.
This just in… hard modes are hard.

heh.
the fight is designed in such a way that its a mad scramble near the end to output enough damage and outlast till he dies to the dot on him from being rezzed.
you arent meant to be able to do it perfectly and some people will die to random stuff.
you can stack the aggro in such a way that the next tank up will not get mced and after mc the first tank has to aggro race to be up there for the next.
some people even cheese it with a hunter.
put your thinking cap on and figure it out.
If you’re eng you can use the craftable bracers from sunken temple phase that make you immune to mc.

My dad guild that did heat 3 only twice, and never even tried black trial, took 3 attempts for our first kill 3 weeks ago and we one shot it the week after.
Get good. L2p
It’s the same as normal mode. Just blast adds and crowd control abominations instead of crypt lords. He dies by himself so he shouldn’t be the focus once the first abom spawns. It’s fun to barely kill him due to bull ability chains. Imo
That’s just Kel’Thuzad, not specifically the HM. It’s a chaotic fight by design.
One time we had all of our tanks MC’d at once and wiped. We did the fight again and beat it the second time around.
It’s not the pinnacle of fight design, no, but it’s been that way since 2006. It definitely has that Classic charm, though.

We three tank the fight, and have cleaned up our execution pretty well. Still a little rng, but not too bad.
MC’s can be tanked, pick them up if needed. Otherwise fast CC.
No reason for your raid to be running AoE, sacrifice that random cleave/AoE.
If you have to brez someone, they should have a greater frost prot to pop and get a rebuff/heal immediately.
Fight’s very doable with consistency, but not a cakewalk.
This isnt hard, its complete rng. Ice Tomb, then into frost bolt volley then into MC. Oh? You get a MC RIGHT as adds spawn and they go around killing all the healers because both tanks got MC’d? Thats not hard. Thats mechanics just happening whenever they feel like it. Put this kind of fight in RWF where the mechanics are random and the damage just one shots you because the damage scaling is overtuned. See how long it lasts.
I can’t stress how much having 90 frost resist unbuffed on this fight makes a world of difference
But also interrupts are very necessary
The only gripe I have is the enclosing circle when mechanics can stack up in this way. I’d much prefer an enrage time vs that circle. If they did that, you’d have more room to work with and be able to work around mechanics better.
We just triple tank it and it’s no problem at all. Two tanks on boss and one on adds. Makes the final circle a joke to complete.
With WB toys if you are doing HM4 without WBs you are trolling yourself. If we bres on KT we have dropped WBs on the fly.
