Just because something isn’t popular though, doesn’t mean its a bad addition. I run the Mechagnome discord ya know and there has been many people expressing love for that race. Being niche has its advantages.
That’s always been my thought too.
Hope they add them.
Honestly not that big on them either. Prefer Sethrak for Alliance but that’s got its own problems.
Still it would be a good compliment to Kelfin for the Ankoan to join Alliance.
Yeah folk wanted something else. Seems the most common reason.
The models don’t matter that much to most of the folk who complain like that. They only tease them cause they’re dissapointed they didn’t get their Sethrak or High Elf or Vrykul ect.
To each their own.
Ya know I don’t get why folk get so annoyed. If they weren’t your thing, go ask for your thing. Let the folk who enjoy them enjoy them.
But, as I said, that is not where ninety percent of the gameplay takes place.
And this justifies them, how? Most of the races posters request can use armour.
Again, and this justifies them, how? Most of the races posters request can live without water.
Sorry but having aquatic folk spending the majority of their time questing on land does not make sense. Especially, as you said, Azoreth is mainly water so they already have even more world outside their own door, a world that is perfectly suited to their physiology, for those with a itchy foot.
You are asking for playable, not more story involving them, so please name one quest they could complete that another member of the Horde is unable to? You can’t because there are none. So they have nothing offer gameplaywise.
(And please don’t say Blizzard could add those types of quests because then you are into circular logic as in water quests justifies water race justfies water quests justifies - and so on.)
My mind has been changed before (ie High Elves) but nothing in this thread makes this race a better choice than any of the land based races being requested and the fact that it is an aquatic race actually makes it worse.
7.8/10 Too Much Water - IGN
This is by far the most ridiculous argument I’ve ever encountered.
By this logic no races should ever be added.
They’re able to be on land just fine. Like any other race. If lore isn’t what you’re looking for then it matters even less.
Ridiculous argument.
Oh High there.
They should most certainly be a goblin customization.
I don’t know about that myself. You lose a lot.
Racials, voice lines, heritage, mount, tabard ect.
I mean if that’s the only way sure but I’d prefer an AR.
Maybe if they do customization they’ll add in a Toggle for the sub-races/groups.
Be good for Wildhammer too.
But, as I said, that is not where ninety percent of the gameplay takes place.
Races like Dark Iron dwarves would be most comfortable around fiery zones, yet here we are.
Void elves: Void related stuff
Demon hunters: Fel related stuff
Vulpera: Deserts.
Mechagnomes: Around metals for tinkering.
There are many races already in game that argument could be used for as they all have specialized themes. And lets not forget that gilgoblins can wear protective armor similar to how landwalkers wear protective armor to go into the sea.
And this justifies them, how? Most of the races posters request can use armour.
It negates disadvantages they may have on land.
Again, and this justifies them, how? Most of the races posters request can live without water.
I think at this point, its more that you don’t like them then because of this. People who like races like these tend to look on the bright side whereas people who don’t want them will look for reasons that they can’t work. However to answer this. Its very simple. If they can live on land, they should be viable.
I feel like customization options for goblins is likely your best bet, as it falls in line with the direction most of these new cosmetics are aimed at. Sand trolls, Wildhammer dwarves, High elves, so why not Keflin too?
I’m just not so sure of the chances of a 3rd goblin-model race, when you could visually achieve the same thing through customization.
Maybe as a skin option for the currently existing Bilgewater.
I don’t have a Kelfin slot like the mechagnomes
I think this ship had sailed when the Vulpera were brought in and use the goblin model. Us getting yet another small / goblin rig wouldn’t make much sense. No AR has doubled up, unless you wanna count the male night elf rigging on male Zandalari and male Nightborne doubling up, but Blizzard went through some extensive work to make them really differentiated.
It’s more likely that they’ll be brought in through some form of customization for goblins.
More then likely ya, but it doesn’t hurt to be vocal about this. The Wildhammer fanbase is not that happy to get wild hammers without druids which is why they are pushing for dwarf druids.
I don’t have a Kelfin slot like the mechagnomes
The idea of slots is being eliminated in the Shadowlands. There is no longer this x race coming in place of another thing. A race either becomes playable or it doesn’t.
Nah I get that and I agree.
Still prefer the AR.
Maybe blizz will do a half way and add in a race group Toggle… Maybe if we’re really lucky they’ll give us alternate racials and voice lines and even extra heritage.
But hey I’ll be happy with Gilgoblins however we get em. I just might keep asking for things to make it feel better.
I won’t demand though. All I can do is ask.
Two things.
-
zandalari and night elves that are playable are not the same model. Devs confirmed this. Zandalari are made with the Darkspear.
-
AR’s we’ve seen so far. Blizzard never actually said that they would be one for one or not.
It’s more likely that they’ll be brought in through some form of customization for goblins.
If the customization is done well and it comes with fins, and some really well done customization then this is satisfactory. However I have this odd feeling they will mostly just give goblins a bluer then usual skin and call it a day. Which is why I am trying to be vocal about this.
I’m still very much in support of Gilblins becoming an allied race. Considering they still have a story to continue (Azshara on the loose, nowhere safe to go) and can offer the Horde quite a bit (aquatic units), I don’t see why the Horde wouldn’t let the Unshackled in.
I’m also still of the opinion that they should be their own allied race. The main reason is that it wouldn’t make sense to plop them onto Goblins, only to suddenly have a race that spent the majority of their lives underwater in the deep sea and having gills to be able to drown in a few minutes.
Guess we’ll see what happens, but I want to see what happens in the Unshackled’s story next…preferably as members of the Horde.
Right? There’s a lot left here to work with.
Yeah. As customization they wouldn’t feel right.
They need water breathing and swim speed at the very least.
And think of the neat bioluminescent eyes and markings!
So much they could do here.
Not to mention extending their stories.
Kelfin for the Horde!
There is another poster that is also very enthusiastic about this race and s/he posted a pic of absolutely gorgeous female example of what this race could look like s/he found on the internet and I would love to play a character that that looked like that pic.
So don’t assume, it just make an… well, you know the rest.
But when posters make requests, I don’t just look at my personal inclinations, I look at how it will work in the overall game and, when I look at these, they just don’t.
Most other races, I would probably just let go. For example.
I think this would make for a neat custom option or AR if they had gone the route of making something like this the gnome AR. However as their is no lore grounding for this to be cannon, I don’t push for it much. Similar would be the case for something like dragon goblins. However the kelfin are one of those races that from a lore perspective already have all he reason to be a playable horde race. I think the could work, but apart of me does think you are right to an extent. It makes me wish the game was more focused on aquatic content.
EDIT: Random thing. They finally fixed my profile pic. I am happy.
Well… Guess to each their own.
Your argument doesn’t really work. It can literally apply to any race. So none of them are viable.
