Keep the Water Elemental

We will keep fighting this insane, foolish decision. Those few Frost Mages that actually want to be solo can take the talent, but you would see that a minimum of half or more of Frost Mages would have the Elemental if you didn’t purposefully nerf it so a Frost Mage wanting to do Mythic, Key Stone, Min/Max etc is forced to not have one. You dare speak of things like Class Fantasy while doing your best to burn it down…you need to listen to the community for once, maybe actually ASK us?

I have never posted on these forums in my life. But I come here now because they have taken my mage’s best friend of 6 years out back and shot him like ol’ yeller. It is going to be a long, lonely road without good ol’ dependable Muddy Buddy. I always used his freeze on an enemy from a range right before I ice spiked, and I’ve done so for years. And who else would have my silly little undead’s back? I tried out the “temporary” summon elemental, and it didn’t even keep my old glyph.

I am gobsmacked as this pretender stands where he once stood. this is not my Muddy Buddy.

Why did they remove it anyway? I fail to see a good reason in taking stuff away from players…

Their reasoning was that everyone was using Lonely Winter anyway.

Yes I support this bring back my water elemental I feel naked without it…

God I so should have leveled earlier in Dragonflight but I was distracted with real life dating…

Meh, looks like I will have no reason to stay frost then and go Arcane or Fire…

Yes, but their reasoning is fabricated bullsh!t. They made the talents unequal, they made it so any Frost Mage wanting to be competitive, participate in Mythics, or in the top PvP tiers, you HAVE to choose a specific talent, the one that gets rid of Water Elemental. They knowingly made two Talents that were far from equal and then like the idiots they are made a major decision based on stupidity to annihilate a feature that they purposefully sabotaged. BLIZZARD ARE PIECES OF SH!T THAT SABOTAGED THE WATER ELEMENTAL.

Will I get in trouble for putting a love heart on that comment despite your swearing?

I don’t understand why Lonely Winter was even a talent in the first place. Should’ve just been a passive that only applied the buff without an elemental summoned.

Same goes for Lone Wolf on Marksman.

Their reasoning for removing the Observer was that they were afraid people won’t know what the pet does.

Don’t worry, I know all too well how bad their reasons are.

No, any swearing or inappropriate words/phrasing will only be my fault and punishment.

But, it’s not removed. It’s just a CD like it used to be when it was first introduced. If anything, now people that have been stuck with lonely winter forever can actually use the WE again.

Honestly, I’m content with Water Elemental being a timed-life summon tied to Icy Veins.
I stopped running Water Elemental seeing’s how no more Focus Magic with Dragonflight talents.

Though, uh, I do feel the effect of Lonely Winter should just be added to the base stats of the affected spells and give us something new in place of it.

I dunno, it feels like they’re finally listening to me from 10 years ago when I complained about them making the water elemental a permanent pet. After all, if I’d wanted to roll a pet class I’d have made a warlock.

While I agree it sucks for them to remove it after all these years, and with us having the option for Lonely Winter, I do think you’ve got the wrong idea if you think the majority used the pet. And frankly I’m thrilled that it is a cooldown again. Like it was back in warcraft 3. Although they should put its name on the cooldown. Make the haste boost the tacked on bonus, not the water ele. Water ele is the star of the show!

Oh dude, absolutely. I just went through my new talents before and was shocked to still see it there. I had just assumed they were rolling it into the baseline. It sticks out like an uninvited guest at a party.

Totally with you! I don’t know about you, but I personally enjoy the game without caring about endgame. I just love to play, and my watery helpful pal was a big part of that. (Don’t worry, serious players, I play alone or dungeon with my family only).

I’m also a scientist studying video games, and let me say–WoW is one of the most researched games for a reason. It welcomes (welcomed?) so many different types of players who played for so many reasons. But for several expansions the focus seems to be on “how can we get the srs bizness gamers to play more and bring their friends?”

Players like me, who enjoy thrashing around and mashing buttons, trying to figure out how to get the most out of our abilities, are clearly no longer part of the target market.

Wait until they take pets away from MM bc everyone takes lone wolf.

I agree. It was completely wrong for blizzard to get rid of the Water Elemental. It just make Mages less iconic from the Original Warcraft 3 Spells and Vanilla WoW.
