Keep Phase 2 Post-Nerf

I hear so many people complaining and asking for pre-nerf phase 2, and I feel like it’s coming from deep nostalgia and not reality.

I’m a sweaty player, I have been for years, and love it. But I can also zoom out and see the differences this time around, and why Post-Nerf makes the most sense for the players and this version of WoW. Specifically:

  1. TBC Classic is running at a significantly faster cadence, and if we’re going to have the raids for less time, we need to be able to clear faster accordingly
  2. Loot is already a problem, having the content take longer for the player base to clear just means players will be stuck in old gear for even longer
  3. Phase 2 raids are significantly more complex, and there are just more bosses to have to learn.
  4. Pre-nerf was hard. While some players came from retail, and some from MoP, many players here don’t want to do Meta specs or play at a very high-level. While I respect that choice, and this is exactly the game for them- it does mean that pre-Nerf phase 2 may be out of their reach
  5. We are a much older player base than when this was first released, and for a majority of us being in a significantly different life stage, raiding two or three days a week to get through both raids will just not be feasible
  6. Players as a whole like post nerf raids better. More people raid, more people have fun- and it’s just better for the game to have full servers and an alive experience. There is a version of the game to be sweaty, and this is not it, and that’s perfectly okay. This is the 3rd time we’ve done this expansion- let’s enjoy the ride!

no it wasn’t lol
Vashj and KT were the only hard bosses, everything else was pretty easy

“I don’t have time to play, so the game should change to cater to me”
I never understood this mindset

This is just more reason for why pre-nerf should be a thing. There’s a vast amount of information about these raids. There’s no reason to come unprepared.

You just want free epics from loot pinata bosses.

the difficulty of these bosses is usually overstated, pre nerf ssc/tk had a 40% clear rate, no “hard” content in the game has ever had 40% of players able to clear it

You people, as in, the bottom quintile of the fanbase, need to be shut down. The game is already so easy that there is no point in playing if you have an IQ higher than 85. Whereas if the game was made harder, skilled players and bad players could reap enjoyment from it.

But I have a question. Why do all of you bad players feel inherently entitled to beat the hardest content of the game? Are you unable to have fun killing the easier bosses, getting the second BIS loot and doing heroics?

Why should skilled players get absolutely nothing to entertain themselves with simply because you believe the game should not have content in it that you are unable to beat? Even if the game already has lots of easier content and bosses to appease you guys?

Why is it THAT important for you to kill every boss and get every piece of loot, to the degree that the game simply cannot have hard things? Will your computer explode if you don’t get full bis?

When we dissect the arguments of people like you, what it really comes down to is some anti hierarchal, video game communism. You think everybody who plays a game should be entitled to clear all of its content and obtain all of its items, and games which restrict what you can achieve based on your skill, are unjustified in doing so. Once we reduce your argument to absurdity, this becomes blatently clear. You very evidently believe that videogames should simply not have content which is unbeatable to any size-able percentage of their playerbase. All because you are so unable to handle being mogged by other players. This all boils down to you having fragile egos.

Furthermore, if every raid is easily clearable, you realize this means that loot and prestige from clearing them means absolutely nothing, correct?

I can not stress enough how absolutely frustrating it is that I had to quit this game after waiting with eager anticipation for a year because there is nothing to engage me, all because people who can’t press more than 2 buttons at the same time cannot be content with only getting the second best items in the game and killing 80% of the bosses (or leveraging their social skills to get carried, which is absolutely a game mechanic in an MMO)

I enjoy the raids as is. the meta chasing was getting super old.

You said its easy and then added disclaimers around bosses that were not easy in pre nerf p2.

A 20 year old game is not designed for the sweats, retail is.

i think its funny that people do everything they can to make raids take less time, meta chase, best consumes available, and then when the raids are made faster and easier they want them harder again…

Keep it as it is. I like the fast phasing idea, just increase the loot +1 or add a vendor with previous phase items (weapons/trinkets/tier) for badges.

I can understand your frustration but I disagree. Harder content is better i agree, when there is time for it. The expedited timeline is going to create gear shortages that get worse each phase. Most people arent even going to bother with sunwell once WOTLK or classic plus is announced. Pre nerf raids had ALOT more time to gear and progress through.

How about trying to get full enchant and gem before doing phase 2 raids?

I have seen so many people crying about the “difficulty” while doing same dps with tank or only do flash heals.

I don’t like difficult content. That is why I’m playing classic. But come on, every pre-nerf TBC raid is already very easy based on current situations (addon, instructions online).

If the phase 2 raids are still post-nerf, it will be even easier than delves in retail for the phase1 geared group. It will be meaningless to get better gears and keep playing this.

Yeah post nerf is the way to go. Anyone who wants pre-nerf is either out of touch with the Anniversary playerbase, or didn’t experience pre-nerf TBC Classic.

Now we just need post-nerf heroics.

Are they though?

Keep it post nerf, CBA to deal with anni players trying to figure out how to chew gum and walk at the same time

Pre-nerf raids.

You think you do… but you don’t

People think heroics are impossible. Don’t even touch the pre-nerf switch

Retail is designed for non-sweats as well. It has all the “at your own pace” content anyone could desire.

But yeah, Classic is a funny beast. We can’t even agree on simple things like whether content should be pre or post nerf…

The irony of this comment being that classic is like 95% sweat 5% skill and retail is 95% skill 5% sweat.

where did you find that convenient number? Way, way more of the playerbase cleared pre nerf ssc/tk

Don’t care either way. I know my guild can clear it prenerf since we did it last time, but I don’t mind the chill version either.
