I love Death Knights. I’ve mained one pretty much since MoP. Dabbed a bit in Hunter and Pally but DK was always my baby. I was sad when they got rid of 2H Frost. But I still stuck with it. But then when I found out 2H Frost was coming back, I was super excited! My 2H Frost DK is level 56 aaaaand it feels extremely week compared to Unholy (a spec I am not a huge fan of). Does 2H Frost get any better?
It will get better when they undo the nerfs

doesn’t get better, it is slow and clunky with not enough dmg regardless of talent choices or legendaries. its not just inferior to UH but to all other specs in the game. DW is performing a bit better but still bottom tier, 2H is the worst… you will deal about 20-25% less dmg than UH.

In pvp, it doesn’t. At least as a guy who likes random BGs and WPvP. UH does everything better. I am giving till the next patch, if damage isn’t toned down or our survival astronomically increases I am unsubbing.

2h is fine right now for Normal and heroic raiding as well as lower keys. Good in PvP.
If you plan to do mythic raiding (assuming not) you should probably go Unholy.
That being said there will most likely be a balance pass either this Tuesday or the following one. They usually wait for world first race to be over for the second pass. Unholy could see more nerfs and Frost could see some buffs.
The fights are designed quite well for Unholy though.
I’ve been saying this to others who are enjoying it as well.
Keep going. We have seen no changes buffs or needs to frost dk yet. So I honestly think we are do for something soon. But I’m sticking with mine.
Fun in pvp fun in pve I might not be top dps but.in my raid group I pass my unholy dks and others with my damage.
I’m not a pro player but I dedicate myself to doing the best I can and it works out

If you like PvP 2H frost is great. Heard it’s Garbo for PvE though. Prefer unholy myself though.

Once you have it on farm, sure. Otherwise you’re leaving a massive amount of damage on the table for progression.
That is not a player I would want on my progression team.

Unholy is one of the best dps specs in the game atm. There is a reason why there were four Unholy dks on the first kill of mythic sire. Frost is a lower mid pack spec at its best. If you really like frost play frost, but if you are concerned at all about output Unholy is better.
PS Since frost is mid pack, I doubt we will see buffs go higher than fury, frost mage, and assignation rogues. Even if Unholy gets a 5% nerf, it still will be much better than frost.

Last logs I saw, Frost was upper bottom of the pack, not in the middle. I could be wrong?

we need to make it clear that frost is only lower end of mid pack if you DW.
2H performs worse than DW, placing us below assa rogue.

Upper bottom is more or less non-viable territory. You can play it just fine on farm bosses or get carried, but Frost in its current state will virtually never place in the top 3. Even on their best fights (which is ones where they can more or less BoS cleave the entire time) they cant even get out of mid-pack. Its bottom 10/24 on 8/10 bosses in Heroic Nathria.
And 2H Frost is significantly worse than DW BoS. Frost as a whole needs significant buffs but 2h in particular needs massive help. It is mathematically the lowest ST dps in the game and does even less AoE damage.

There are zero dps checks for normal or heroic.
If you are wiping it’s because of mechanics not dps checks. Any spec is fine.

Frost is in no way “fine”. Its not even “acceptable”

2H Frost is extremely strong in PvP, and has better burst damage than Unholy. If you plan on PvPing, 100% go 2h Frost

I never said Frost DK was fine for progression raiding.
I said it was fine for heroic and normal raiding as there are no dps checks.
Frost needs a buff to compete with Unholy obviously.
