Keep Classic the way it was! NO SHARDING

Oh damn dude… did they really do that?

I only have an alt on a RP server, but it’s something I’ve seen quite a few people from those servers complaining about. Plus as Mat noted above, he ran into the sharding back in November well after launch.

Unfortunately sometimes Blizzard has a habit of saying one thing and doing another thing.

Which is what a lot of us are worried about. Many of us would begrudgingly accept sharding in a limited fashion during the release week if we 100% knew they would never use it again.

either way, it makes no sense why they would… THey understand it would be a very dumb idea, and its only used for launch. Just gotta use ya brain to put it together broski

We don’t believe they will, we want them to keep their word, but as has been pointed out, blizzard has a history of lieing about sharding. Both in retail and classic m

I wonder what else they may be lying about if this is the case? My imagination is off to the races and flying with thoughts of lovely armor bedazzled with the finest gems as gladiators face each other in combat!

I haven’t seen any evidence that they’ve lied. They said when server stability is at risk, they will shard. Currently with Warmode, CRZ is enabled and that’s why you’re seeing people from other servers on your own but do you have proof that your own server is splitting into multiple shards when server stability is not an issue?

And that’s my point. Basically they have free will to use it when they want. So long as they claim stability blamo good to go.

So what’s to prevent them from doing the same in classic?

Blindsap is already giving them a free pass on the first use because of stability so who says that a year down the road blizzard isn’t going to say “well were going to use sharding as necessary for stability.”

I dont blame you for being such a zealous advocate against sharding because I will do the same for permanent sharding wherever needed.

Would that not happen in Classic also?

Would sharding the AQ event because they decided that “server was at risk” not be using shading well beyond those, as yet undefined, “Starting areas” and well beyond “at launch”?

Would sharding Southshore/Terran Mill battles because they decided that “server was at risk” not be using shading well beyond those, as yet undefined, “Starting areas” and well beyond “at launch”?

Would sharding capitol cities during an enemy faction raid because they decided that “server was at risk” not be using shading well beyond those, as yet undefined, “Starting areas” and well beyond “at launch”?

Sharding is a fiasco.

Using it when pvp is happening will be boring.
Well it definitely negates the possibility of a faction getting its revenge when a 40 man raid stomps you because reinforcements will be sharded.

No sharding, and don’t change anything! If you want to play classic it should be exactly the way it was. Go play retail if you can’t handle that. I have a job and have the time to play classic I might not be the best geared player, but I will be having a hell of a lot more fun playing classic than retail. I’m unsubbed til then.

+Cata and MoP didn’t need it.

The only reason why WoD launch was a failure is because of all the servers that had been taking off line from the sub number decline of MoP and i can all most ganreentee that if these servers where still around for the launch in WoD it would’ve had a smooth launch like all previous expansions did.

But people being the blind sheep they are believe the trash and lies from Blizzards mouth about needing crz and sharding to help smooth the launches when other expansion where all most 100% fine.

Edit:
Also it pisses me off that Blizzard are asking for a full sub price(no i don’t include it as a free thing since i have ZERO interest in playing that crappy retail watered down version of WoW) and yet Blizzard wants to bring in sharding, since you can be damn well sure of it if it’s used once it will be used again and again. I don’t trust Blizzard one bit.

Do you have any idea how unpopular and terrible Sharding actually is in an MMO-RPG? I think that 120 BFA game play has poisoned your mind. Step away from the BFA and cleanse your mind of that pollution and remember the community that exists in Classic because there is no sharding to destroy it.

If you include sharding, the community dies.

Yea but blizz will do what is best for blizz. They dont give two shirts about this community.
They have made that painfully clear.

adding ample opportunities for players to use the restroom should help make sharding unnecessary

I find this to be true for a single player mindset, especially since Classic has returned to its original mob rules. But this is purist MMO in the raw. It’s what the quarter million or so who broke with Blizzard’s retail TOS agreements have been getting from the emulators. It is this purist WoW popularity that forced Blizz to suck it up and do an official version themselves.

Vanilla WoW was never instant-gratification solo-player friendly. Doing a remake meant to appease instant-gratification solo-players would potentially drive many (I would assume) of the quarter million or so underground vanilla emulator players back to their emulators. Without them the WoW Classic experiment dies.

Grouped players not only share (for the most part) quest mob kills, but they complete their quests at a faster rate than solo players do. So it has been my experience thus far in beta that grouping up fixes a lot of those quest mob spawn delay issues.

Yes, that means personally stepping out of shadows and into the light to have actual dialogue with other players as part of the group invite process. Welcome to when MMOs were actually MMOs.

Why would you want thousands of people in the starting zone shutting down the server for a month straight

Dude. I’ve got my Argent Dawn tabard. Spare me the soliloquy because nothing in Classic except for Naxx will be new to me.

That said…I stand by what I posted.
