the droprate could be 99% and still meet the scenario you presented.

I remember getting the Mechagon mounts took me months, on multiple characters.
Got 'em eventually, for my Mechagnomes I played at the time.
But yeah, be prepared to camp my guy. These all usually go this sort of route.
Karokta is only killable once every 4 days which exacerbates the issue.

I haven’t been around most of these newer rares, but that’s interesting.
Wonder why they didn’t just make it a rarer spawn like TLPD or Aeonaxx, with a 100% drop chance.
They should nerf the drop rate or something, imo. Especially if you can’t even kill it daily.

Of course the drop rate is way too low. 0.08% for a mount that can only be looted once every 4 days is absurd and completely out of touch with any other rare in the history of WoW.
It should be adjusted to the normal 1-2% drop chance like other rares in Dragonflight.

So this is Soundless all over again with a much lower spawn rate. Drop chance needs to be 15-20% if it can’t be up everyday.
7-8% is the number people like to use to win an argument, you know, the made up number so they can call us whiners and how it’s super easy to farm mounts and we are not allowed to complain and hoping no one actually fact checks their nonsense.
I’m doing 53 attempts every 4 days, first 53 attempts 1 drop, second time doing 53 attempts and 2 drops…
this is why we need bad luck protection…rely only on RNG and there’s even a chance of this scenario.
I’m on one of if not THE lowest pop servergroup in the entire NA region (Sentinels, Kirin’Tor, Steamwheedle Cartel) and I don’t think I’ve even seen Karotka up in the past 2 weeks despite regularly going into the caverns for raid and various dailies and seeing almost every other rare that can spawn in the caverns be up simultaneously. If you’re gonna make the spawn this cringe, the droprate of the mount needs to be like 25% minimum. Soundless is just as guilty of this cringe.
Imagine if Time-Lost or Aeonaxx were 1% droprates (and I’m saying this as someone who camped out Poseidus, Time-Lost, Aeonaxx, AND the Uldum Camel)
You need to use LFG and you’ll find groups every 4 days after Karokta reset…the spawn isn’t a big issue compared to the lockout and the low drop rate.
I’m aware of that to find groups, I’m saying that if a random world rare with a 1% droprate that can only be looted by a toon once ever 4 days seems to almost never be up on my deserted realm when EVERY OTHER rare is consistently up and ignored there’s an issue
Mmm I understand your point, this is also a big issue for later patches, expansions. It’s better to grind it now when everyone is doing groups.
the problem is that these rares also have 1 day on which they don’t spawn per location for example, Karokta didn’t spawn last tuesday even when the lockout got reset.
It’s an horrible design…
I mean all of these rares will be soloable come next expac, and if a zone that came out less than a month ago is already in danger of being completely dead then as far as I’m concerned there’s a major design flaw on the development side that needs to be addressed. The same thing happened with the forbidden reach, this style of content is simply a throwaway and the design philosophy needs to be reworked for the future or else we’ll just keep running into these problems with new zones filled with forced group content rares that are designed as 90% of the content within that zone causing the zones to die within a month for the majority of people who will just come back next expac to solo when it doesn’t take 15 mins to find a group to kill 1 rare only to get 50 gold and a green lol
Sure, it’ll get easier to kill 1 time but it’ll get worse for several kills in order to attempt the low drop rate. now, we can jump realms and look for it up in several alts, that’s why I’m doing 53 attempts
Anyone who waits to farm something like this until next expansion pack is screwed when the zone is dead and you have to wait for the spawn.
I’m on an already super lowpop realmgroup. Next expac I will be able to time this to the hour if I feel like actually farming it and odds of anyone competing with me, AND being on the same shard at the same time are incredibly low.
But personally, I will likely not bother farming this in the future anyway bc I think 4 hour rng spawns on top of 1% rng to even get the drop is completely idiotic it’s already painful enough to do in raids that are always up at my leisure to clear once a week I’m not going to do that for what is yet another cheap nether ray reskin
This mount’s drop chance is really puzzling in light of their recent changes to other super rare mounts. Right now the drop chance is similar to the old chance for MoP world boss mounts, but the spawn rate of the mob is far lower than those old bosses unless you sit and spam refresh in LFG for a group.
It’s also very strange that they don’t seem to have adjusted the drop rate after making it a once every 4 days loot.
At the moment I’m not farming it despite being a mount collector because it just seems off. I’m hoping they’ll make some kind of adjustment.
