Karesh dh storyline opens the door for more dh races

i for one am pleased by these developments in the story and am looking forward to dh opening up to more races

Does it? It felt quite specifically tailored to opening the door for Void Elves to become Demon Hunters, and them alone.

i mean if any demon hunter or member of the illidari can explain and reveal the process of becoming one, it should mean that any race has the potential to become one. the argument of ā€œerm well aykshully illidan would need to teach themā€ no longer holds

Look, I doubt void elves will get demon hunters any sooner then any other race.

This feels more like it was just a quest that felt right and hints that yes, new demon hunter race/class combos are coming.

Sure, but potential doesn’t matter if it’s never explored.

What the Void Elves were given with the Demon Hunter sidequest is something most races are not afforded. Only time will tell if the devs will be more equitable with whose potential they explore in the future.

I thought it only existed to explain the DH boss in the raid specifically. Though I’d certainly be open to more races being able to be them.

there’s also something else worth considering too, i doubt they would make it imbalanced so that the alliance has 2 dh races and the horde only gets 1

Two things can be true at once. The Soul Hunters (Adarus Duskblaze), an optional encounter in the raid, to have this much lore groundwork laid out for them is unusual for Blizzard.

Leona Darkstrider will presumably become the first Void Elf Demon Hunter when she refines her methodology in the future.

I’m not so sure of that - consider the Darkfallen customizations that came to every elf but Nightborne.

As of Exploring Azeroth: Islands & Isles, Warlocks are not welcome in Suramar - Demon Hunters are a step above Warlocks when it comes to fel corruption, so that’s not exactly a promising development.

im sure if they spend time developing nb lore some more that might change, after all the night elves changed their stance on nelf dks, demon hunters, and darkfallen and allowed them a place in belameth (granted it was its own little isolated place away from everybody else, but still)

At least the dh demon forms can be reused for other elves. :wrench::robot:

If Blizzard is going to just slap a purple paint job on the current DH models and that’s it I’d rather they don’t do it.

The DH are basically their own race with unique demon forms for male/female and NE/BE, as well as unique class customization (skin, horns, tattoos, etc. similar to DK), and different voices from the base race.

No more lazy paint jobs and calling it new, especially for the player character.

And since I’m already shaking my fist in anger, more customization for all races and more class specific customization!

NE/BE share the same demon forms though, they’re just different colors. So any future DH race would have the same demon forms with different colors.

Sorry now all I can picture is a Tauren going into meta and becoming an elf. That sounds like the kind of cautionary tale you tell to scare kids. ā€œDon’t mess with fel kids or you’ll lose all your fur, tail, and grow extra tiny fingers.ā€

I only care for fel orc demon hunter

In Midnight, you’ll also be able to join the fray for the first time as a Void Elf Demon Hunter.

As predicted, the questline was specifically designed for Void Elves, with the developers going so far as crafting an entire specialization around it.

Well, at least one of my Doomer predictions was true, I guess. Silver lining?

Finally, a time of another new alt is upon me.

Once again, they pretend NB don’t exist. While they could still confirm NB DHs in the upcoming panel… I’m not going to hold my breath.

More like the void elves are literally copy paste blood elves and so are there demon forms.

It might be a technical thing. I remember in Legion when people asked about other races they said the move sets would have to be designed for each new race and that was more work than it returned value.

For Blood Elves that is not a factor, as they use the Blood Elf rig. They can literally just copy the moves over.

For any race that does not use Blood Elf or Night Elf rigs it is a lot of technical work to add DHs to their class choices.

That said, I do think it would be worth the effort to expand it a little. Not every race, obviously. But lorewise Nightborne do have a good lead into it. Maybe they will still do it. But, if they don’t it wont be because the ā€˜forgot about Nightborne.’ It will be because they did not believe enough players would value it to justify the amount of work.
